Unfortunately that is a true statement. So many people today want to put on great shows like church is for entertainment instead of worship. They have choirs that sing beautiful songs but have ugly hearts. People who have talent instead of gifts. People who have not a clue how to walk the very things that they talk. My heart breaks for them because they have been beguiled. Pray for them!! I know i will. Be Blessed!

Unfortunately, I beleive it comes down to pride! Many of the pastor's today are into ministry for the money and recognition. They have made a house of worship into a business! Now, how can you worship money, seek all the glory and still expect Jesus to be apart of this?
It all reminds me of the fall of satan! Prideful, wanted to be God and His glory! A little frightening, don't you think?
Yes, He does stand at the door and knock but, He will go away, eventually, if you do not open that door. This is the reason Jesus isn't in attendance! Man's own selfishness and pride have slammed that door shut so that their own agendas may be met!
All of this reminds me of another incident where Jesus walked into the temple and there were, "moneychangers" in the House of God! That so angered the Lord and moved Him to righteous indignation! Can you imagine Him walking, in the flesh, in today's churches? I think more than tables would be turned over. How that incident grieved the Lord and I know that He is certainly grieved today!! But, didn't He warn us about this too? Yes, He did... many times and in many ways. "Do not be deceived." "Many will fall away, even the elect." "Many will come in My Name, do not be deceived." So on and so forth.
So, am I surprised? No, Jesus' Word NEVER returns void!! Just a fact.

Some large denomination (mainline) so-called Christian churches are trying to put a mere human intermediary between God and the individual "layman" in their church ! They have a "Pope" or "Priest" or "Most High Reverend Pomposity" etc to "interpret" and try bring God down to a small Human level. Or worse, to preach about a dead and ascended (up up and away !) PAST, Historical Jesus of about 2000 year ago -- and all of this is second -hand religion or lower ... just an intellectual reading from some "church approved holy books".
Jesus Christ is 100% fully here in Spirit and as One with God the Father-Infinite I AM ! Jesus comes into the soul and mind of each Individual Human, in church or out of church, (no difference) to elevate and Transform that Individual Human believer ! and even to give him a powerful Eternal Spirit Birth experience ! (Born-Again in Spirit, some say) This is REAL, PERSONAL GOD-CONSCIOUSNESS IN SPIRIT POWER !
Some of these Spirit of Truth Transformed Humans work in small Home-Family Fellowship groups, others stay in their denomination and (quietly or not) work for the enlightenment of their church rulers. Most churches hate personal God-conscious experiences ! It takes away from their high, up and out, Human AUTHORITY.
KNOCK KNOCK is still here and HE is getting louder ! Soon, even the deaf will hear Him !! Thank You Jesus !
See and believe fully John 16:7-16 and then John 12:31-32
Most churches avoid those ! for good or bad reasons.
Individual soul DOORS are OPENING ....

Much of the organized Church today is just that - organized. Men have structured it to the point that if the Holy Spirit manifested in any way he would be mistaken as demonic. Although, finding a gathering of believers that are led by the Spirit of God is possible. It might require that followers of Jesus have to relocate but you do what you have to do.

This answer may be considered smart-alecky but it was my experience while I was attending church.
Why should they let Jesus in? They do not accept people with different skin colors or sexual orientations, so why should Jesus be allowed?

he's too radical, he would stand up in the middle of the service and point out the doctrinal errors, then get escorted out.
