What does it mean to be a Roman Catholic, how is the Holy See organized and what is its purpose?

The Catholic church claims to trace its origins back to the original followers of Jesus. However, I doubt that Jesus' apostles would recognize today's Catholic church as being anything Jesus would approve of. Catholics consider their pope to be the successor to Peter -- the same Peter Jesus was referring to when Jesus said:
"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
--Matthew 16:18
So the Catholic church is quite old. It's doctrines have changed a lot over the years and they continue to change. It's still very legalistic and ritualistic.

It is all about original Christianity. The Catholic Church is the one Church founded by Jesus Christ for all mankind, and the only church ever authorized by Him. It is all about the stated will of God, "that they all may be one". It is all about the fullness of truth, uncontaminated by modern traditions of men. It is simply pure and complete Christianity as Christ intended it to be.

The RC church was NOT "founded" by him, it may have been founded based upon his teachings, but certainly not founded by him. It was not founded until about 100yrs after he died
