Sorry to tell you that your hamster is probably dying and there is nothing that you can do to prevent it. Give it a nice funeral. Ours praised the hamster for it being as hamsterish as it could be. It was then buried next to another hamster and 5 fish which had died over the previous year.

It sounds like her has a respiratory infection, especially with the crusty eye!

If there are no emergency vet clinics nearby... TRY what i did with my rat when she was sick... I stayed up with her all night and thought that she was going to die... She made it through though...

Get some coffee in some warm water, some weetbix, one of those syringes without the needle or an eye dropper, and a heat pack/hot water bottle and a towel...

Heat the heat pack, or fill the hot water bottle up, and wrap the towel around it... And make sure that it is not too hot... You don't want him to be in shock from burns as well as everything else...

Wipe his eye with a damp cloth so that he can feel a bit more comfortable...

And you need to syringe the coffee into his mouth...

He wont like it at all... But it is the same principle for people with asthma... The caffeine opens the throat and helps them to breath!

Syringe some of that into his mouth... Give him time to swallow... Don't overwhelm him... The last thing he needs is to stress out more and get coffee in his lungs!

Once he starts to look around a bit more, start giving him some of the weetbix and water (or wheat based cereal) with sugar in it, via the syringe again...

The sugar and the coffee should help to give him immediate energy, and the weetbix will give him a more sustainable energy... This well help to keep him alert and give his body something to work with, rather than just running on empty and trying to fight!

And get him to the vets ASAP in when they open... Be waiting out the front when they open their doors!

Good luck, i really hope he is ok!

Please let us know how he goes...

What is his name?

Ok. I think your hamster might have wet tail. You mean that he is wet on the bottom side as his butt?
Just keep your hamster warm, make sure he is eating and drinking, and when your local vet's office opens up for the day, GO THERE ASAP.

I dont know what this is, he just might be really tired so just leave him alone until tomorow and than take him to the vet. Well it is 2:30 in the morning so its no suprise if he is tired. Just check on him in the morning and when the vet is open take him there. I hope he will be fine, just leave him alone and let him sleep.

YOU CAN BUY THE CURE FOR WET-TAIL AT MANY PET STORES, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE VET.

Also, remember hamsters have short life spans. If he is a couple years old...sometimes thats just the way of things :.(

let him be and put pleanty of water in his cage, dont give him any food and if he has any food in his cage take it out... there could be something in the food that is bad for him. call a friend who knows a lot about animals or make an emergency vet call, ( call your vet at his home phone if you have it? ) ,

i hope your hammie is ok =( !
