If i were to ask a question that challenged a persons non-belief in the God of the Bible, many of you would be on it like a pack of dogs on a three legged cat...(please no comments from cat lovers...I love cats too...taste like chicken [ :) ]. But when I go after those that profess faith in Christ, and try to encourage them to step up, no one clocks in?

For example where all you intelegent design/creationists at defending the faith from evilouton ( yes I said EVILoution). I know I look like a monkey but that don't mean my ansestors were monkeys ( that was a white mans argument against Black folk about a 100 to 140 years ago).

In Revelation 3:2 Jesus said "Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die..." Writing to Sardis, I believe that is one of the biggest problems the body of Christ faces today.

any thoughts?

You are beginning to discover The Truths that are well known in the world of Journalism. In a few decades, you may be qualified to publish a newspaper or tabloid magazine.

The public doesn't want education. Sensation sells, substance is as popular as Brussels sprouts.

I'd love to answer, but, um, I don't know what you're asking. I believe in Christ and in His sacrifice for me - what do you want the "generic us" to "step up" to? Where do I clock in??

Eviloution? I need to have a clearer understanding of what you mean here.

Revelation 3:2 (NCV) says "Wake up! Make yourselves stronger before what you have left dies completely. I have found that what you are doing is less than what my God wants." Said by Jesus through John to the churches in Asia. He was talking about the church in Sardis acting as though it was alive but was really dead (in sin). They were not living as they had been taught and they were being warned that they should "not forget what (they) have received and heard."

So. are you saying that churches don't really live the way they should be living according to Jesus? Do you mean all churches? All Christians?

I would love to continue the dialog - but I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. If you would clarify - I would reanswer.

Thanks & God Bless.

well, i am not able to answer for anyone else, just me - so here is my view :)

i am a follower of christ and i believe in evolution [not "evilution"] so, when you pose a question concerning if it "is or is not" right, it does not matter to me what others think - it does not effect my faith journey. i am also not moved by questions that seem to be designed to simply upset people and start arguments.

what i see as the biggest problem facing the faith today is christians who can quote scripture, but do not know how to live in love and grace - who seek judgment, and have no idea about forgiveness - those who claim a faith journey, but spend too much time sitting and doing nothing to change the world around them - it has little to do with "waking up" and so much more to do with "coming to life" :)

but that is just me and the way i see things - who knows, i could be wrong.

I see this a lot as well.

It happens because Y!A is just for entertainment, no one is really on here to convince or convert anyone.

The entertainment comes from reading controversial questions, outrageous comments, and the opportunity to tell someone off and head-bash.

If anybody was really looking to be educated, spiritually uplifted, or feel united in a cause, they'd be more involved in the service of the Lord outside of the computer world.

Evolution was not cooked up to threaten Christians; certain Christians decided to be threatened by it all on their own. Just as they were when Galileo invented the "tel-evil-scope" and was making observations of blasphemous moons around a profane Jupiter, orbiting around a heathen sun instead of a divine Earth. Copernicus was just as much of an unsavory character.

Science and religion are not, nor were ever, meant to mix; only those who insist on mucking it up are the ones who somehow find a problem with it.

And yes, cats taste like chicken.

Don't indict evolution because white people misused it to imply they were superior to blacks. People misused Christian faith to persecute non believers, but that doesn't indict Christianity.

Anyway, since when did science and religion become sworn enemies. Maybe science keeps narrowing God's job description, and people would rather lash out when they're wrong than admit the Bible lacks divine authority.

No offense to your beliefs. But I'm fed up with people trying to brain wash me into believing in God. I have my own views when it come to religion and I don't tell people that they will walk the earth for ever if they don't believe in what I do. So I don't think it is right for Christians to try and scare or bully everyone to believe in God.

Human nature sweetie. By nature, most people are reactive rather than pro-active. When someone attacks a belief that they hold dear, they are quick to defend...but when someone asks them to examine their own beliefs in an unbiased manner, they are a little slower to take the challenge.

In addition, how many people on here really "know" you. When your close personal Christian friends hear a challenge from you, do they respond the same way (ignoring you) that people respond on here? If so, then you need to examine yourself (your arguments or the way you deliver them) for the reason. How can I (or anyone else) know whether you really practice what you preach? When you (or anyone else) asks a question about something that I've already investigated and accepted as truth, I have no problem wading right in and supporting the position I already believe. But when you ask a question that causes me to reassess something I already believe OR when you ask a question that makes me think about something I hadn't thought about before, I think God expects me to follow his instructions and discuss these issues with people who I can and have been able to judge using HIS criteria!

But on here, we (I) don't have the opportunity to observe and judge your commitment to God through your actions, only through your words. God commanded us to judge other Christians through their actions...NOT to judge their salvation but to judge the value of their observations about me and about the things I say/do/believe by assessing how they apply their own advice in their own life! If I judge the truth of words spoken to me by ANY man (especially when those words concern what God wants from ME) by the words alone, I'm basically asking to be deceived by the enemy!

You might be surprised to learn that more than one person HAS been challenged by your questions...but we only have a few days (and realistically just a few hours) to respond to your thoughtful questions about our Christian behavior. Sorry, but I don't know you well enough to just accept your challenges without investigating them on my own and asking people that I CAN assess using behavioral criteria. For example, I brought up two of your recent questions in a discussion with my pastor and another close friend.

...and don't forget what Abraham Lincoln said, "Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt". In some cases, I've remained silent on an issue because, while I know what I think, I don't have the words or information I need at that moment to answer the question accurately.

I honestly have the same problem. Alot of Christians don't like to debate. There are many types of "Christians" though, alot of them are sheep and aren't really curious at all, they were just raised Christian. A true Christian is curious, and cares, answers, defends Jesus and lives by His laws.

Good question. I will try to keep an eye out for your questions from now on. Frankly, it's a relief to be able to answer something that's geared toward making me think, not trying to mow me down. I have answered some questions about dinosaurs, etc...but as I don't consider myself an expert in evilution perhaps I don't feel as well equipped to answer those. We need some Christian scientists on YA....lol
