I studied about the concepts of gods and goddesses in various pantheons and the only ones that make no logical sense are the ones where there's claim laid down that they're somehow omnipotent. The ones that don't claim that make logical sense and Buddhism discusses the realms where such beings might be, and then the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are often called "deities" but not omnipotent, or it wouldn't make any sense, and they can appear to you in whatever form you have the karma to see them as.

When the Buddha teaches that the gods/goddess realms exist, I'm more likely to agree with the logic of it... after all praying to Quan Yin in my Wiccan days, begging to be taught better compassion and lessening to my anger got me dropped off at the "feet" of the Buddha. Sounds kooky, I know, but then I don't care.

There is really no way to KNOW a Goddess is real anymore than there is to know a God is real. Faith is by definition having confidence in that which cannot be proved or disproved i.e. deities. People ought to believe in deity because they feel it is the right thing to do for them, not because they are told to do or because supposedly someone has proof that believing in that deity is the right way to believe, that's impossible.

Sorry to correct you, Pangel, but Buddhism doesn't have deities.

Ummm... despite being Buddhist, I do actually believe in a Goddess, Mother Nature.

Everything in Nature is part of a perfect system. Everything is flawed, but the sum total is perfect. Therefore all parts of the system must be revered, otherwise the system may collapse.

We are also part of Nature's perfect system.

Note that this is not necessarily a Buddhist belief, but a belief that makes me me.

Unverifiable Personal Gnosis: subjective belief.

But I'll say this---I am somewhat (to put it mildly) well versed in the 'discerning of spirits" and in operating within the annointing of the "Holy Spirit" . . . so I have a developed ability, albeit one that will never stand up in a physics lab or court of law, for recognizing and *distinguishing among* spiritual presences, entities, and beings.

And now that both atheists AND xians think I'm completely whacked out, lol . . . that's how I know. Freyja, Frigga, Sunna, Saga, and Gefjon are all goddesses from my Folkway that I have had spiritual interactions with, and they all "feel" different . . . from each other, and from the "guys." :-)

Because the earth cannot exist without a balance between male and female. If there's a god, then there's a goddess as well.

I had a personal visitation/encounter with the Goddess. And that's all I'm going to say about it in a public forum.

I actually believe in multiple Goddesses as I am a Hellenic Pagan.

As for how do I KNOW they are real, I have FAITH based on their actions in my life and their speaking to me in my heart.

I ORIGINALLY learned about them due to being Greek by ancestry and having them as part of my cultural heritage.

some people don't realize in the first place that God would not have a gender. believing in a male God or a Goddess would be sexist either way

It's one of those "Oh you'll know" type things. It makes no sense. I remember people telling me when I started my path with Paganism that I would "just know" when I hit the right path and I had no idea what they were talking about.
Boy do I now.

I believe, but never worship, Ninkasi. She is real because beer exists.
