I actually counted once. It was a loaf of Safeway white bread, unopened. With the end pieces I counted 21. How do you make sandwiches with an odd number of pieces?
Then again, it was cheap, and it was Safeway.

i volunteer at a day care center so as u can imagine, we use a lot of bread. we usually have 13 kids a day for lunch and we always have to open the next loaf for one more sandwhich. so i'm guessing around 24 slices of bread per bag..

24. I usually get 12 sandwiches out of one loaf. Then again, I use the heels.

Thus, one standard loaf will make 11 sandwiches, not using the end pieces.

It would depend whether it was thick, medium or thin slice, I suppose.
