Harris Poll and Gallup confirm the findings of your reference. Even though some Christians are in denial.

Who knows what will emerge. I hope it will be something that puts tolerance at the top of its agenda.

That would be a break from conventional religious beliefs and communist beliefs which are both as bad as each other.

I think people will either take on a more pantheistic concept of God and see the greater power as the Universe or Nature or they will simply drop religion all together.

People seem to either need the supernatural or they don't, so they will include a pantheistic god or none at all. There will be few defining characteristics of God and little or no religion.

Why would there have to be a spiritual replacment?

The most predictable change would be to assume that the growth of islam is being fueled entirely by the decline in christianity but I seriously doubt that's a true picture of the case.

What's falling is the number of "churched" Christians, what's rising is a movement called the "house church" movement. I am apart of this movement. It is basically the same as the first century church. We use them as our model. Whoever came up with the idea of how churches are today did not base things off the Bible, but the house church movement does.

I envision a World Wide Church of the Sacred Corporation. We will replace the cross with a logo and and the rituals with a board meeting. God will be called the Holy CEO.

I would like to think that more people would start to explore the spirituality of their ancestral regions. It would have a fringe benefit of people knowing more about their own history and heritage.....

Sir,your "links' are meaningless since an atheist website is by definition a biased source of information. Do you have any "links" to reputable studies by respected universities, published studies, anything other than this atheist website? I can't imagine referring anyone to a Catholic website and seriously expecting them to consider it an objective source; by definition it is not. If you have any college,I would think you would understand my point.
To answer your question, the only examples we have of atheist societies are Stalinist Russia and contemporary China. I would imagine it would be a very cold, cruel society. That has always been our experience and continues to be so.

existentialism

people living without attempting a spiritual connection to God, but living according to their passions, etc.

Europe is basically completely existentialist

A great deal of America is existentialist, even if they say they're Christians, they don't accept the dogma, or accept the Bible as literal , etc.

After another week of Elvis, I'm fearful that Elvis worship will become a religion and we'll all have to have velvet paintings in our houses.
