My dalmatian seems to be afraid of the back gardena ll of a sudden. She used to pee there in the mornings before I took her out for a normal walk, but now I have to walk out with her, or she just refusues at times to even go there. Another neighbour who has a dog, which she barks at and doesnt like , and it doesnt like her , might be the problem as when she started barking, I was told by the vet to squirt her with a wee bit of water (i felt bad), but sis it anyway.. Is it my fault she is like the?or , as I thought, someone else has done something to her? We have 2 neighbours who have acess tot he back garden.Or is it that since i have been off on mat leave and was more able to take her to the park right accross the street ( i was more mobile in June than I am now), that she now preferrs to pee at the park ?

It could be anything. There could be a snake in the garden, something could've hurt her when she was in there, some other bad thing could've happened, but something went on in that garden that's made the dog scared. Try a slow re-introduction to the garden. Maybe walk her near it for a while, until she's used to that. Then walk her up to the gate and back, then a foot inside, etc. etc. over a span of a couple of weeks. Good luck.

The suggestion of an obedience class is an excellent one. Read here https://tr.im/ZN0Vs
It will help your dog learn to behave around other dogs, and help keep your training moving forward as you'll want to be prepared for the next class. Also, a good instructor can be a wonderful resource, someone to help you with any questions or concerns about your dog. Leash training can take a LOT of time and patience, depending upon the dog. I'm not sure what you mean by 'horrible on a leash' but my basic suggestion is that you take a lot of yummy treats with you on walks. When your dog behaves well on the leash (not pulling) praise her and give her treats. Change direction a lot so that she learns to pay attention to YOU and where you are going. It's also helpful to teach a "Watch Me" command such that whenever your dog looks at you you praise her and give her a treat. About chewing, yes a Kong is a great chew toy. Some dogs also like Nylabone brand bones. I suggest also teaching a "Leave It" command. You use this when she shows interest in chewing on something she shouldn't. Then immediately give her something she is allowed to chew, such as the Kong stuffed with somethig yummy. This same command will be helpful on walks when she wants to sniff or eat something she shouldn't. Again, when she does leave the item alone, be sure to give lots of praise. I would look into an obedience class right away. I think that you'll find that a good obedience class can help enormously! Good luck and enjoy your new dog.

Well, maybe there is some type of animal ( mice, snakes, or just plain bee's ) that might be frightening your poor puppy. Or maybe it is the dog on the other side of the fence. If the dog on the other side is bigger and stronger, then that might be the answer. Some dogs get overpowered when the other dog is bigger than them. Isnt that so sad!!!

You mustn't reassure her - it's rewarding her fearful behaviour. Take her in the back garden on a lead, being commanding but not harsh. Ignore and don't allow fearful behaviour. If there was something in the past she will learn that it is alright now. However, you need to make sure that the other people who have access are not being cruel to her.

Maybe it got stung or bit by something back there.... although I'd be surprised if she remembered it for that long. Or it could just be something you added to the garden recently that she doesn't like. When my kids built a little snowman last year, one of my dogs acted like she was terrified of it and wouldn't go anywhere near it.

Check out the area she is afraid of. It's not the presence of another dogs scent. She would just re-mark her own territory. DON"T squirt her with water. If she is afraid to go there, there is a reason. Find it. Hope your not afraid of snakes.

It rather relies upon on the breed Newfies arent hunters so as that explains extremely some why they wouldnt pass after the snake. herald a Patterdale terrier and that little canines will slice up the snake and make you a snake wrap =)

Your dog is telling you something here, so this area is not fenced in, so start walking her where you know she will take care of her business. You dog doesn't like the other dogs smell so walk her some where else.
