My dog does something very strange, and I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this. First of all, I should mention that she is a mix of black lab and golden retriever, and is about 8 years old.

When we go to my family's camp, we noticed that she liked to take plastic water bottles (bottled water) and take them somewhere. He didnt think anything of it, but then we noticed that she was walking on the beach, and pulling rocks out with her mouth. Once she has the rock in her mouth, she will walk around the camp three times with it. Always exactly three times. And then we didnt know what she did with that rock.

But one day, my dad was doing work under the camp. He saw probably 30 water bottles. They were half buried in holes my dog dug, sticking up in the air, always with the cap in the ground. Next to every bottle was a rock she grabbed out of the beach.

What the heck is she doing this for? Its not concerning, just interesting, and a little strange!

i saw this book once in a canadian vet office about dog art. it was a photography book containing pictures of tall piles of twigs, circularly arranged brooms, arranged sea shells and things such as you have said all done by dogs. it was quite fascinating as i have a dog but he has never done anything like this. i guess some dogs are more artistically inclined than others. i dont recall the books name though sorry.

This is a great story, dogs love water bottles, and there's far to many laying all over the place, now if she could find money and place where you could find it you would have it made. The mix of your dog is a good combination here, this type of dog loves to retrieve, I guess you can say this is her stash of toys. Follow her where she places her toys and tell her she's a good girl, maybe she will share the great finds with the family????

Like people, animals can have obsessions and, who knows, hobbies?
maybe she likes to collect the bottles, and gives each one a rock to mark it?
as long as she isn't eat either one of these, and not hurting herself, like her teeth while carrying the rocks, it will be interesting to see what she does later with these items...
perhaps, the bottles stand in place of burying a bone?

keep us informed!!

That is pretty weird. my aunts dog loves to carry things around in her mouth she can stuff 3-4 stuffed toys in her mouth at once. but i don't know about the circling and piling them somewhere. maybe she just wanted to keep them there.

Wow! That made me laugh a little bit, it sounds cute. I think she's just trying to entertain herself. Who knows what she's thinking. Try getting one of those people who talk to dogs. Lol jp
