hi i have tried all the tile paints on the market over the last 26 years and none of them really work that well but i have found that if you give them two coats of oil based undercoat allowing 24hrs between coats and then 1 coat of oil based gloss the tiles look great and are washable and last for a good few years before you need to do it again and you dont have to worry about regrouting or dirty looking grout.hope this helps

Ok. The tiles must be perfectly clean before you start so one of the best ways to do this is use white spirit on a cloth and make sure you wear gloves (it can cause dermatitis) Tiles need to be primed and you can buy tile primer from DIY stores International is one of the brands. After priming you can continue with a paint specially formulated for tiles or use an alkyd (oil based) eggshell. Apply all you paint with a mini foam roller check on the times for how long you need to leave the paint between coats and don't be tempted to apply a further coat any sooner or runs and crinkling will appear later as the paint drys.
You can then return the grout to white with a grout pen if you wish (again 'International' do these)

Ive painted 3 bathrooms with Tile Paint and they've all come out pretty good.
My best tips are
Make sure all tiles are cleaned 1st with just water no chemicals
Best to use an undercoat (or an extra coat) as it does give a better finish (yes i know it takes longer but its for the best.honest!)
Use a small sponge roller and tray but don't tip toooo much paint into it at a time as it dries pretty damn quick in the heat and then goes on in uneven coats.
I always do a minimum of 3 coats but let each coat dry at least for 4 hours each or over night if possible.
But my best tip is to pay someone else to do it...then if its shite you can shout at them!
And always paint with your favourite music on loud.
and always paint in the same direction

Buy some proper tile paint from the D.I.Y centre. It come's in many colours and looks great afterwards. It does have a strong smell, but soon vanishes. Brilliant paint

Don't. Even with the proper tile paints it looks rubbish and you need to re-grout to do the job properly, which then takes the paint off. It's easier and quicker just to re-tile.

Make sure you use a tile paint, follow instructions and do a few very thin coats leaving to dry inbetween it's time consuming but worth it for the finish.
Make sure your tiles are spot-less too use sugar soap to scrub down first. I added a transfer just a simple one here and there and it looks lovely. i didn't use the grouting pen though I tried and they just run down the tile so I left it and it's fine.
