Interesting category to put this question.

That aside. I would say the truth is a FACT.

For example, if you say Sirhan Sirhan shot Robert Kennedy. That would be a truth/fact.

But when you get into the realm of things that aren't so readily verifiable....subjective areas, like relationships (with people or with deities) than the truth doesn't become so absolute.

Indeed the truth may be subject matter specific.

a hard question ----I see truth as being at one end of the scale and it is white at the other end of the scale is black and in between lots of varying shades of grey and one should look at all things not in black and white but in the shades of grey.Truth absolute truth is not the ultimate as what can be the absolute truth one day may not be so later. OK so now I'm confused and that is the truth the absolute truth ! Dawn has just broken perhaps later I will have a clearer understanding at a later time. To get back to the question (where did I go astray?) it is different for each person and also can be different at different times in the same person.

This can be a heated topic at times. Spiritual truth is relative to the individual and there is no absolute spiritual truth.

In the past when i have [posted this, Christians start mocking me and say things like that is saying absolutely that here are no absolutes, then go into a tirade about how stupid I am and so on and so forth.

First of all when we say there is no absolute truth we are not saying there are no absolutes. 3+3=6 is an absolute. Absolutes can be proved true. Spiritual truth cannot be proved true and that is why there is no absolute spiritual truth. that is why it is called faith.

There are no abosolute truths on a quantum level. To perceive is to create reality. Therefore, reality (and truth) only exist by observation. Since each individual observes and perceives differently, although in some cases on a common level, each individual holds certain "truths" to be real. Truth is a very personal thing and is uniquely different for each person perceiving events or ideals that they hold to be true.

There is only One God and one Truth. Truth is absolute viewed from the highest levels.

But Truth is also relative. Everyone’s awareness of the absolute Truth can only correspond to the sum total of all his experiences and learning, so far. To those here on earth, there is far more to learn. We should never be content but keep on searching.

Truth is only absolute when it can be proved, otherwise, we don't have Truth, but theory. That said, each one has a different one, because everyone has a different point of view, a different thought process and a different source of research.

Religion is directly related to the one's experience in life and intuition. My intuition (something inside of me) tells me that my religion is the right one, simply because I feel good with it and it makes sense to me, according to my own experience, and this is something that nobody in the world can take away from me, no Christian, no Buddhist, no Catholic, nobody at all.

Peace!

Jesus said, I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. Jesus does not change so the truth is absolute but 1 Corin 13:9, says we know IN PART, and prophesy IN PART But when that which IS perfect is come, then that which is IN PART shall be done away. I think the 3rd part destroyed in the book of Rev is this PART in all men. We don't seem to know God even IN PART, today.

In the end there's only one truth, but there are many interpretations. So in the world we live in there are 3 kinds of truth:
- Your truth
- My truth
- The truth

Can anyone be absolutely sure there isn't an absolute truth?

My aunt once told me that "the only truth is in one's perception." Or something like it--and she's been a Catholic nun from over 50 years.
