Yeah...I know you use a scanner but I'm not sure what to do after. It won't copy onto my computer.

Scanners usually have various options. You can copy directly to a printer, you can fax it, or you can save it to a file. The location of the file and the type of file (bmp, jpg, etc) is set in the options. You must also pick a color mode and resolution. At the time the scan is made there should be a preview setting where you can select the part of the picture to scan.

If you did not change any settings then look for a folder called "My Scans".

Many photo editing and OCR programs have a file command to read directly from the scanner.

note the directory where things are being saved. If need be, grab a pen and paper and write that down if it's really long (e.g. c:\My Documents\My Pictures\misc stuff\scanned stuff). Then browse through (go deep into your folders by double clicking opening them) to find that image

Sometimes scanners have a setting to send the scanned image directly to a printer, fax, or to a specific emial to be sent. Make sure you select that you want to save onto your hardrive isntead.

check the settings in your scanner's software as to where the file will be saved. usually in a setting called "preferences" then "target directory"

also you could try opening a picture editor first then choose file>import>from scanner, then scan your picture and it should open before your eyes!

Your best bet is to start with one of the "Dummy" books. Learn the basics then you will find that figuring out things for yourself will not only come easier but be more satisfying.
