Love bombing is the deliberate show of affection or friendship by an individual or a group of people toward another individual. Critics have asserted that this action may be motivated in part by the desire to recruit or otherwise influence. "Love bombing" is often cited by critics as one of the methods used by some cults to recruit and retain members.

I've been love bombed by Mormons before. I hate it how they act like you're their new bestest friend if you give even an inkling of interest in Mormonism. I've read that they are actually trained to do this...

(I'm not just picking on Mormons here, Jehovah's Witnesses do it and so do many other groups.)

(There's a very real difference between "love bombing" and genuine affection so please don't list every time a religious person has been friendly towards you...)

Um, I am sure there are times when people are more affectionate than genuine for some sort of personal gain. I do know that when someone shows an interest in the same thing as me, including my beliefs, I of course feel closer to them. And just like most new relationships, those early close feelings will cool down abit as time goes by.

Yes, There is a real difference between Love bombing and genuine affection.

Jehovah's Witnesses have passed the test of Love among yourselves, that Jesus said would Identify the true followers.

Many documents attest to the love shown to the Jews, and among themselves in the concentration camps during WW2.

In Africa, many JW's died protecting their brothers and sisters of different tribes.

Wade thru the lies, and you will see the Love, Jesus taught.

OK love bombed... does this mean when aunt Millie comes to your house and hugs you without you wanting it. That is a love bomb?
Confused on this. As for having people that are two faced, which I think is the same thing. I have had that off and on in my life. And hate two faced people, just tell it like it is. Don't sugar coat it for me. I would rather have someone honest with me, then to tell me a lie to win my friendship.

This is similar to ingratiating. They are trying to enact the rule of reciprocity.
This has happened plenty of times to me. Then as soon as you say that you don't want to be part of their religion, their true colors show.

The only people interested in cults like that are pasty faced geeks who secretly fantasize about being pimps, because they have never had any poonanny. But yeah, some fools tried this crap on me (Christian church cult) and I told them where to go, and how to get there.

yes, but that only made me suspect their intention.

edit: emotional way doesn't appeal to me. I want valid reasons why I should believe what they believe and not just because they make me feel loved or whatever.
