When i was young, and my family had to hunt for deer, to put food in the table. i was Drawn to Cerunuuos, a god of the forest. because i spent so much time out there.

when i got out of school and moved into a city, i was drawn to Nemitonia, Goddess of fresh water and sacred spaces. for need of a safe place to practice my rituals.

now that my path is leading me into the realm of healing, i find that i amdrawn to Grannus. a god of healing and protection.

Cerunuuos and Nemitonia are still there, and i still invite them to my circle anytime that i cast it. and i still call Cerunuuos my Patron god. but right now Grannus has much to teach me so he is taking a larger part on my life.

as my i move foreward on my path and different aspects of my life change the gods that take a part on my daily life do change. but they are all still there to be called when needed.

I would not say that any of them were chosen by me, more like they simply came foreward to teach me something at that time in my life. and remained there to help in the future.

Although I have been on my path several years, I am still just a beginner in a lot of areas. the Gods and Goddesses is one area where I am still a beginner.
I spent my whole life learning the bible and all of it's heroes and villains that I never considered the pagan Gods and Goddesses.

That is an area where I am very weak in. Even when I study some Pantheons and learn about their stories, I have difficulty in adopting them to modern times.

so I just use the generic God and Goddess or simply Lord and Lady.

In general, I address the God and Goddess in a non-aspected way, as "Father God" and "Mother Goddess", the masculine and feminine energies of the Divine.

The Norse pantheon is what originally drew me towards paganism. I later worked with a group who focused on the Egyptian pantheon, and I honored the God and Goddess as aspects of the Egyptian pantheon while I was with them.

Now that I am on my own, I am drawn to the Greek pantheon.

I am of the "all Gods are one God" field of thought, however, so to me it's not so different going between pantheons, because they are all aspects of the same Higher Power. It's a question of how I best relate to them at any given point in my life.

However I'm not comfortable "mixing" pantheons, because to me the energies seem weird, like an extended, mixed, slightly estranged family all sitting at the same table at Thanksgiving. I don't know how to explain it. =/

I do not have a specific name for the God or Goddess that I believe in, I think for me it is more of a way of life, the Goddess of the earth, The God of the above, the spiritualism that I feel and share with all of nature around me. It does not really change for me, I guess because there are so many names for the same aspects, that I just have it as The Goddess and The God. Idk, I am still seeking and learning, so it may change as I grow. Blessings

The Gods are real. I have met Them, and They have demonstrated their reality to me in many ways, some quite astonishing. (My experience is mostly with the Goddess and the Horned God of Wicca, in their various aspects.) Are the Gods physical beings? No, of course not. Reality is more than merely the physical dimension. Reality includes many spiritual dimensions that we can access through the inner doorway of our consciousness. That is where the Gods dwell. They can and do interact with us, and also with the physical plane. But They don't have physical bodies in the same way that humans do. The Sun God is a personal deity, a divine entity that is connected with the sun. You might say that the sun is his body, but that would be oversimplifying it. Similarly with the Moon Goddess. There is a divine consciousness and psychic energy associated with the Moon, and that is the Goddess. That is what we connect with, through prayer and meditation and ritual, etc. But Her consciousness is not a physical thing, just as my consciousness is not a physical thing. The physical plane or dimension of existence is an expression of other, deeper, more spiritual layers of reality. And learning to access those other levels, and the divine Beings that dwell there, is a large part of what Wicca and Paganism are all about. Perhaps what the question is really asking is not about the Gods themselves, but about the myths and lore associated with the Gods: and yes, much of that is metaphorical truth, not literal truth. But the Gods themselves are not just "metaphors." They are real divine Persons that we can love and worship, and cultivate an intimate relationship with. .

The God I worhip is Lugh, the antlered Cletic god. He speaks to my spirit like no other.

My name for Goddess is a "revealed" one and NOT a part of any pantheon that I have encountered. To ME she is Shandarra, Goddess of Light and Love. She revealed that name to me in a Meditation quest to find a Goddess with whom I could feel affinity for. By this name she has blessed me many times over and touches my spirit everytime I meditate on her.

I have been drawn to Hestia, Hera, and Hecate because of different aspects that each one possesses.

And which God or Goddess I will honor and pray to help will depend on the situation (I would not pray to Athena to help with romance or Aphrodite for something work-related.

I have a question I posted yesterday that might give you more insights....

I don't really have one preffered God or Goddess. When doing any ritual or spell or anything, I pretty much just as for the God and Goddess in general, unless I feel compelled to ask for a specific one.

actually i was pagan for quite a while before i chose which deity to follow.

i chose a celtic goddess because she seemed to call me. i don't follow a god because i believe there is already too much male energy in the world. most religions are patriarchal. so i hope that by only following the goddess i can help bring a little balance.

I am drawn to the Moon Goddess (probably because she rules our 'monthly cycle').
