The funny thing is that most studies show that non-English speakers learn English quicker if amerced into a English only program, other than teaching English as a separate class, and the rest of the classes in their native language. Then again maybe the point is to let non- English speakers keep their native language

when someone goes to live in germany, they learn german. when someone goes to live in spain, they learn spanish.

now why are immigrants from mexico under the impression we should accomadate them and learn their language? sometimes they even demand translators, as though they ahve super citizen rights. if someone wanted to live here so bad, they'd be willing to take 15 minutes a day to learn a language to show some respect to the country they're in. this applies to all immigrants, white, black, hispanic, whatever, illegal or lega.

It's not like people who speak ONLY SPANISH are being hired. They are hiring people who speak BOTH English and Spanish. As long as those they are hiring speak English, I don't see what is wrong with giving preference to those who speak another language also.
