i really want to change my job to someting more intresting. i work as sales assistant with a good wage. and would like to do something more active. my problem is i am hard of hearing and have astmah and do not have very good qualifacations. my dream job is to be a copper but i carnt hear on walky talky things and that. i would like to be a fitnness instructer but carnt cos my ashtmah. am also not very confident. can anyone think of a good active job for me. thanks or am i totaly messed up with my health

OK, first the bad news. It is unlikely you would be able to join the police with poor hearing, and asthma.

HOWEVER, the police isn't everything, and a lack of qualifications is not the end of the world. You sound like you are still fairly young, there is nothing, but you; from stopping you getting some qualifications.

There are a multitude of jobs to chose from, which I am sure you could eventually do, which are at least, and probably more interesting that the police that you may be able to do with your health problems. Go and see a career adviser, and look at the courses being offered at night school, they are now taking bookings as the academic year is soon to start, they will also be able to help you chose the course's best for you, start with the basics even if you have to start right at the bottom - no shame in that, then you progressively go higher and higher, and gain more and more qualifications which will enable you to go into a career that you are happy with.

One last thing, it will take time to get the knowledge you require, but don't give up; you will get there one day.

Make enquires about becoming Community Support Officer. Many young people use it as a way into the Police Force and there is a good camaraderie.

be a sports coach eg climbing etc once you pass your test or whatever you jus stand there and tell ppl wot to do!!!
or try going into youth work which is active and fun and also will suite a confident person
try contacting the police as the can offer you jobs in the force despite your ill health- my uncle is a diabeticpolice officer-once he had proven that he can control his diabets well and that there is always another officer with him its fine.

if you want to be a copper contact the police. if they say you cannot persue a career as a copper you could still work in the police force.
