Hi german shephards can bevery unruley if not very well trained. He is probably teething, my puppy is having a problem withbiting as well. When he bites you it's important not to make any fast motions with your hands, but look directly in his eyes and make a high pitched "ouch" and ignore him for a minute. The reason they bite is usually the mother dog or his brothers and sisters would teachhim not to bite by doing the same thing, makeing a high pitched cry and ignoringhim a minute thats how they learn not to bite. It's important to stop the behavior now or it will continue, but be patient. Good luck toi you. Oh also something recommended to me was bitter apple spray, you can spray it on your hands to make it unpleasant for the puppy to taste. but only spray it when the dog is biting not before.
I just remembered this too. I read in a book the reason they bite also, can be a sign they are testing you. They want to see if you will be strong or if they are stronger (in the "pact" order of hierarchy). So its important you show strength, but not anger. and i read if the dog gets VERY aggressive, hold her down gently by her neck, again dont show anger, but hold her until she calms down. When she does calm down and stop biting, reward her with a treat and praise.

He's just playing as puppies do and he will NOT "just grow out of it". It's your job to teach him that puppy biting humans is NOT a good idea.
there are several things that can be done to teach a puppy that biting is not OK. Biting or nipping is a normal part of puppy play, and they need to be taught that this kind of play is NOT OK with humans.
You can do 2 quick fingers to the nose with just enough force to get the pup's attention and say firmly "NO BITE".
You can wrap your hand around the upper jaw so the skin of the pups mouth is between your fingers and it's teeth. Press gently and hold the mouth immobile as you say "you don't want to do that. NO BITE" This way the puplearns how sharp and uncomfortable it's razor sharp puppy teeth are and it won't want to bite you because your pup does NOT want to hurt you.

The natural way for a puppy to play is to bite. The job of the owner is to train the dog on what instincts are OK to follow in the human world and which ones are not allowed.

He's just a pup. It's like a baby, they have to put everything in their mouths. He's just getting used to his new surroundings. It also could be the type of dog he is, but usually German Shephards don't bite like that. He's probably just playing with you.

You will have to teach him to stop he is playing and unless corrected this behavior will continue. When he bites tell him no bite in a stern voice then either turn away from him and don't play or talk to him for a couple minutes or give him a toy or rawhide to chew on instead. Good Luck!!

He needs the proper corrections to learn that it is unacceptable behavior.
Cry out like you are hurt, your dog will stop & look at you with his head cocked to one side, as if to say, 'What happened?'. Also, just as soon as he bites you cry out & hit him on the top of his nose using two fingers. You won't be able to hit him hard enough to cause any harm with just two fingers but you must hit hard enough to cause him some pain. Just as he caused you pain. I have had to use a piece of garden hose on one dog that was a serious biter, my fist on several but I worked with aggressive dogs & was instilling controls. I HAD TO BE way more dominate than them.
Start out with the cry & a firm bop one the nose & a firm NO. Takes some time but soon there will be no more biting.
He bites cause that is like his hands, dogs smell & taste their worlds cause they have no hands. Watch a bunch of puppies at play & see how many times they hurt each other.
You have to be fast enough to hit your mark each time or you will make your dog hand shy. So aim & strike for positive correction.
I have bit dogs that have bit me. A very good correction, too. But, you need to know when to use it & how so that you don't get bitten in the face.
A mama dog would bite them back & shake the hell out of them.
There are all kinds of things you can do to correct biting & it just depends on what you are able to do yourself. Different trainers go about thing in a slightly different manner so it helps to get the views of at least two trainers (their books).

Well you need to ask yourself why is your pet biting? You need to think like for example is it a habit, does he wanna play, or is he trying to tell you something. When I mean tell you something I mean are his teeth bothering him. If it were me, and my pet was biting I would probably go to google, and get tips on how to stop biting. Oh yeah and a puppy does bite. You gotta train em.

Perhaps you should have read up a little more on dogs and puppies prior to getting one... this is what they do... he's most likely teething. He'll bite and chew any thing and everything that he can get in his mouth.

puppys tend to bite whether they are playing or not, if he bites, you should stop what you're doin, and tell him no, and always praise him and give him treats when he does something right, that way he will learn the difference
