I definately keep mine on the cupboard. Maybe it's just me but I think refrigerating them changes the texture. They just taste fresher at room temperature. Some people like them cold.

Well, I prefer mine in the fridge, but that is only bc I like them cold in my salad and they keep a little longer, however, they are much fresher and the taste is better if left out. I think the fridge slows down the ripening process which in turn slows down the flavor of the tomato.

I keep ripe tomatoes cool in the crisper drawer in fridge. Produce continues to ripen if left in the heat. If tomatoes are a little green, leave them out to ripen, and then put them in the fridge. In the interest of fruits and vegetables lasting longer, refrigeration is best. Think about bananas as an example. If you buy them green, they soon ripen at room temperature, and then spoil....all in a matter of days.

On the counter. They lose their flavor in the fridge. There is no such thing as a "too ripe" tomato-- they just get sweeter and juicier. But they may get bad faster. Just make sure to use them within a week.

Definitely on the counter. When tomatoes get cold they turn mealy (mushy) and lose their flavor. They may stay "fresher" in the fridge, but your sacrificing texture and flavor.

You should leave them out on the counter. Tastes fresher and if you put them in the fridge, they spoil fast

For the best flavor keep them on the counter. If you put them in the fridge they start to lose their flavour.
I like to lay them out on newspapers like my grandmother back in the day!

Tomatoes should be kept in room temperature. Putting them in the refrigerator will make the flesh turn mushy and soft.

Interesting question. i've heard that you are not supposed to put them in the fridge, partly because they loose their taste and fragrance. I have tried that, but they get pruned or too ripe if you don't put them in the fridge. (unless of course if you use them really quickly)
