but i've had my piercing for like two years. my dentist said to take the ring out clean that seperatly and then wash my mouth, and to rinse the tongue ring with listerine and clorine so it can kill the bactiera. But how really?

What your dentist said sounds reasonable enough. I gargle with listerine numerous times a day and also do take the stud out of my tongue and clean it with peroxide.

Take it out, soak it in listerine or alcohol, while its out brush your teeth, and rinse with listerine. Then scrub the tounue ring with your toothbrush, rinse it off and put it back in.

You take the balls of and pull out the bar, rinse and put it back in, the hole will still be there.
