I am looking for information on the kinds of soviet migs kept there and how many were stolen from the soviet union during the cold war. I believe they were called the "red hats".

1. There are NO Soviet MIGs at Groom Lake!
2. There are former Soviet MIGs with the Agressor Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base. They are used in the "Red Flag" program to train plots in aerial combat.
3. None of these aircraft were stolen. They either came into our hands from other nations who had captured them from nations which had been militarily supplied by the Soviet Union (ex: from Israel after being captured from Egyptian bases) or from Soviet pilots defecting by flying their aircraft to a base controlled by the U.S. or one of its allies (ex: A MIG-29 which landed at a Japanese air base in Hokkaido and the pilot defected to the US).
