No, as long as you aren't eating more calories than you burn. I lost 40 lbs, and I swear I had a banana a day ( in my cereal). And have kept that weight off for 2 years now.
Just note that bananas are one of the higher fruits and do contain a lot of sugar, so maybe cutt down to every second day or make sure you don't eat other really sugary stuff in conjuction with it.
The potassium you get in a banana is really really good for you as well.

As one of the previous respondents stated, one banana per day will do your diet more good than harm. Additionally, you can maximize the banana's contribution to your weigh-loss plan by eating it within a complex meal.
Try adding 1/2 chopped banana, 1 tbs. of nuts, and 1 half tsp. of cinnamon to a serving sized bowl of oatmeal. The result is one power packing breakfast that will be sure to keep you full until lunch.
If time is of the essence, trying blending 1 banana, 1 tbs. of peanut butter, 3 ice cubes, and 1 - 8oz. glass of regular or soy milk. This smoothie gives you balanced energy and plenty of muscle building protein.

The banana is really good for diet, it has between 80-85 calories. I used to eat banana when I was dieting before, and it didn't affect my diet at all!
