Because people aren't interested in learning something new. They just want to post questions to get an audience and support for whatever self-righteous stuff they're pushing. Sometimes it's because they secretly have doubts about their beliefs.

Great question.

I spend the most time answering questions where I believe the person asking is really looking for information.

When people ask sassy questions which are trying to push their own agenda, as often as not, I'll give them a sassy answer in reply.

When I do that, I sometimes get accused of being rude.

When I ask questions, I'm usually trying to get people to think.

For example I asked two questions today, which I know the answers to, but most people having thought about those questions and when they answer them they will often be quite surprised.

Helping people think and helping people seek out answers from the Bible is why I'm here.

There are also a log people from false cults on here and one of things I know God want me to do is counter their presence.

You're referring to the religious believers, right?

That's what happens when someone (religious believers) are closed minded, ego focused, brain-washed/brain-dead from religious beliefs...

Go beyond religious beliefs and DO this:

Have UnConditional Love and Peace by accomplishing this:
Create Your Relationship with Our Creator.

UnConditional Love and Peace is the only answer.

I agree - I feel like I've been set up. I answer assuming that they were serious about the question. The other thing I would add to that are people who don't resolve a question. I can understand someone telling us that there are too many good answers, etc. But why ask a question and then not respond?

Because they are not truly asking the question. They are either trying to prove a point, or looking for people who agree with them. When people agree with your personal thoughts, it reinforces that idea, and makes it stronger in your mind. It feels good to believe your views are right.

Humans are neurologically predisposed to gather together with others who share the same opinion. Often they ask questions to garner support for a pre-determined course of action or an a priori assumption.

Many of the questions seems to be veiled pleas for validation or an opportunity to vent. I really don't see the point of me asking such questions, because I already know what I think.

Oh, I know. It happens a lot. I think people are afriad of other people's points of view. There are people who only pick what they want to hear...even if it is an answer giving false info.

I TOTALLY agree with you.
Some aren't here seeking answers to their questions, they are here to promote their own original opinion!
The are closed minded and ego focused!

Because all humans crave affirmation and agreement.

It's part of psychology. Everyone does it. It's just more blatant here.

Or did you not notice that you judge how smart other people are by how much they agree with you?
