I'm wondering what they believe because I have heard a lot people saying some really mean things about them & what they believe. I always try to respect the beliefs of others even if they are way different from mine. I would hate to asked them something that would hurt there feelings or offend them. (Note: I am not wanting to convert or anything just I would like to know what they believe)

What do they believe

Who is Jesus Christ? I have heard that they believe that he is Micheal the archangel (but this may not be true I don't know)

Do they believe in the Trinity?

Do they believe people have an immortal soul, that when we die do we go to heaven or hell.

What do they believe about other Christians & how to they feel towards them. (example: Catholics, Baptists, Methodists)

Why do the Jehovah Witness's look funny at me when I say God bless you to them?

I hope I have not offended any one by asking this question.Thank you all for your time

Belief in Deity
There is one God Almighty--a Spirit Being with a body but not a human body. There is one God and no Trinity.

• Incarnations
Christ is Lord and Savior, but not God (Jehovah) incarnate, not a God-man but inferior to God, not part of a Godhead. He was a created spirit being, God's only begotten son, sent to Earth as a perfect human. His sacrifice became the "ransom" price to redeem mankind from sin and death. God created all in heaven and on Earth through Christ, the "master worker," God's servant. After Christ's resurrection by God, he was "exalted" to a level higher than angel.

• Origin of Universe and Life
God created the heavens and earth in six days, but each "day" is equal to thousands of years. God created and controls all processes and events.

• After Death
No soul remains after death. Soon, Jesus Christ will return to resurrect the dead, restoring soul and body. Those judged righteous will be given everlasting life on a paradise earth. Those judged unrighteous will not be tormented, but will die and cease to exist.

• Why Evil?
The original sin caused humans to inherit death and sin. Satan and his demons pervade the earth as spirits tempting all to sin, which God allows as a test of faith in Him.

• Salvation
You must show faith in God and in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Adhere to the practices, requirements, commandments, laws, and sacraments of the faith. "Witnessing" and active sharing of their faith with others is fundamental. Avoid behaviors that God dislikes, including celebration of birthdays and holidays originating from false religions.

• Undeserved Suffering
Much suffering is caused by the inheritance of mortality from Adam and Eve, which includes vulnerability to illness and disease. Also, those who choose to succumb to Satan's temptations may suffer self-inflicted damage to their health. Satan and his demons cause great misery. God has allowed the situation to continue so that mankind can discover that God's rule is better than independent human-rule. He has allowed Satan to cause suffering to challenge Satan's claim that God's creation, humans, would turn from and curse God under pressure.

• Contemporary Issues
Abortion is wrong. Homosexuality is a serious sin. Gender roles are defined: Men are the head of the household and women are loving caretakers who assist the husband in teaching the children. Divorce is permitted under certain circumstances, but Jehovah hates remarriage unless the divorce occurred as a result of adultery. Service in the armed forces or any form of allegiance to government is prohibited; one must show allegiance only to the Kingdom of Christ. Blood transfusions, along with ingesting blood, are considered wrong, as God said the soul is in the blood. Bone marrow transplants are left to the individual conscience. (Note: all other forms of medical treatment are acceptable.)

The best place to look for information about Jehovah's Witnesses is their official website.

Jehovah's Witnesses are very serious Bible students. In fact, before they were called Jehovah's Witnesses, they were called the Bible Students. They use only the Bible to support their beliefs, and will happily show you scriptural support for their teachings, even from your own copy of the Bible.

They fell that the Father (God) is not the same as the Son (Jesus). They teach that they are two separate persons, that Jesus was God's first creation and that Jesus is subject to God.

They reject the idea of the Trinity because they feel that it is not based on Bible teaching, but rather tradition and philosophy. Jehovah, the Father, is greater than Jesus (John 14:28) and the holy spirit is the power of God.

They do not believe that the soul is immortal (Ezekiel 18:4). They teach that there is nothing in our body that lives on after death that is capable of pain, emotion, thought, etc(Ecclesiastes 9:5). Therefore, the idea of hell is rejected. Rather, they teach that hell is simply the grave. They believe in heaven, and that some of Jesus' followers will serve as kings and priests there. Others of Jesus' followers will live forever on a paradise earth (Psalm 37:29)

Jehovah's Witnesses feel that theirs is the only true religion. They have deep respect for those of other religions, realizing that Jesus said "love your neighbor as yourself".

Jehovah's Witnesses are mostly known for their house-to-house evangelizing work. They do this because they feel that the Bible commands them to do so (Matthew 11:1; 24:14; 28:19, 20; Romans 10:14, 15; Acts 5:42). They also do it because they feel that mankind in general have not come to know God and they want to help.

You have not offended us at all. We all learn by asking questions. You did a great job of asking.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God's son and that he came to earth to die for our sins. Before he was in the form of man, he was Micheal in Heaven. The Scriptures say that he was the first of Jehovah God's creation so he was the first being created. He knows Jehovah better than any other being in the universe.

No, we don't believe in the Trinity. We believe that there is Jehovah God, the Almighty, the Sovereign of the Universe, our Creator. Jehovah God created Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit is God's active force that He uses to do His Will.

We believe that the soul dies at death. The Bible says that when Jehovah God breathed life into Adam, he became a living soul. Becoming a living soul does not mean Adam was given a soul. It also says the soul that is sinning, it itself will die. As we all sin, even in a thought, we all die. Jesus said we sleep in death till the resurrection. This resurrection will come after Armageddon for the righteous and the unrighteous.

The Bible also repeats several times that only 144,000 people from earth go to Heaven to help rule as kings and priests.

We are to keep the commandment to love our fellow man. That commandment does not say we are to hate people from other religions. We take that very seriously.

Are you saying it after a sneeze? We don't say that as it came about by people thinking that demons enter the body during a sneeze. If you are just saying it as being polite they are not used to hearing it from someone from another religion so it's from surprise, not that we don't believe in God.

I understand why you can be confused in regards to the beliefs of the Jehovah Witnesses. I was raised in that faith and even am confused. They don't believe in the Trinity. Jesus Christ is the son of Jehovah which was sent to earth to play for mankind's sin. They believe that only 144,000K will go to heaven and all others will be in a sleep like state until they are brought back to live forever on Paradise. They also believe only ones with true evil in their heart will be forever put to death. So with that in mind they is a huge chance that Hitler, Mussolini or Jack the Ripper could have a second chance to forever live. You have to admit that they is something about knowing that your own loves ones will come back to live forever and you somehow will know who they are.

One of the Jehovah's beliefs is that you should witness to others to spread the Truth. But behind the door they tell their children to stay away and do not associate with the worldly ones. I have always had a problem to this practice as if you can witness to them however you can't be part of your daily life. Also they do not believe in any celebrating of any holidays including your birthday or Christmas nor saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

I hope that you will find what i have to say to be a use to you.

Did Jesus teach that there would be a resurrection? Yes. He mentions it repeatedly. John 5:28, 29; John 6:40; John 6:44. The apostle Paul taught this as well at Acts 24:15. He was even being judged by the Sadducees over his hope of the resurrection. Acts 23:6-8. Even people in hell get resurrected. Revelation 20:13. So the doctrine of the resurrection is firmly established in scripture, yes? Now if we 'travel to heaven or to hell' when we die, what need is there of a resurrection? Resurrection is, plainly, for dead people, right? So if something survives death and goes to heaven, resurrection is unnecessary, is it not? Since resurrection is what overcomes death, then when we are dead, we are conscious of absolutely nothing, just as Ecclesiastes says, right? So there is no contradiction, is there? Hannah J Paul

Who is Jesus and is he an angel?

Since Jehovah is a God of order, it is not surprising that his vast angelic family is organized.—1 Corinthians 14:33.

The foremost angel, both in power and authority, is the archangel, Jesus Christ, also called Michael. (1 Thessalonians 4:16; Jude 9) Under his authority are seraphs, cherubs, and angels.

Seraphs are in attendance at God's throne. Their assignment evidently involves declaring God's holiness and keeping his people clean.—Isaiah 6:1-3, 6, 7.

Cherubs are also seen in Jehovah's presence. As bearers or escorts of God's throne, they uphold Jehovah's majesty.—Psalm 80:1; 99:1; Ezekiel 10:1, 2.

Angels (meaning "messengers") are agents and deputies of Jehovah. They carry out the divine will, whether it involves deliverance of God's people or the annihilation of the wicked.—Genesis 19:1-26.

Jesus is spoken as having at times this job function as being the chief messenger or Archangel. This is not a permanent position. Because of his faithfulness he was risen to be heir of his father's kingdom. When he sits down on his father's throne he will no longer need to be his father's messenger (Archangel) but rather he will serve as king.

Gal 4:14 but received me as an angel of God, [even] as Christ Jesus.

Rev 22:16 "I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne.*

Do they believe in the Trinity?

The worship of three divine personages predates Christianity by thousands of years. Evidently the Babylonians first conceived of a triad of gods. Later the Egyptians worshipped the triad of Osiris, Isis and Horus. During the time of Christ, the Romans idolized Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva.

How then did a pagan form of worship become the central teaching of Christendom?

It is well known that after the apostles died off, Christianity became increasingly corrupt. As a result of an apostasy from Jehovah and under the influence of the demons, Jesus was gradually elevated from being the Son of God to God the son.

Finally, in 325, the Roman Emperor Constantine hosted a conference of bishops in Nicaea, France, where it was decided that Jesus was God. Amazingly, over the course of a few hundred years the Roman emperors went from feeding Christians to the lions to playing a major role in determining Christian doctrine.

Do they believe people have an immortal soul?

The idea that humans have some sort of immortal soul that survives death is not a biblical teaching at all but comes straight to us from the ancient mystic religion of Babylon.

Maybe a Jehovah's Witness will respond to your questions but I recently read one of their books, "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" There is no credit line for an author.

I made some notes as I read it and so here are some observations from the viewpoint of a Christian.

They major on minor issues, for example the shape of the cross and the use of it as a symbol. They discuss at length holiday celebrations, Christmas in particular, birthdays being pagan celebrations etc. etc.

There is a confusion of personages and they identify Michael the Archangel with Jesus.

They continue the use of Jehovah as God's special name and never once discuss the issue of Jehovah as an incorrect spelling and interpretation of what is now pronounced, "Yahweh." in English.

They misunderstand the distinct personality of the Holy Spirit.

They spend too much time on John 1:1 to disprove the diety of Christ totally disregarding such classic passages as Col 1:13-20 and Phil. 2:1-11. Their discussion of John 1:1 is an attempt to justify a faulty translation by their scholars.

They mix Old Testament ceremonial law and New Testament teaching. This is very evident in the discussion of the role of blood. This is, of course, a very large issue with them and why they won't accept transfusions of blood even to save life. They are somehow unable to sort out the reality of grace in the New Testament and the Law of the Old Testament.

Now the above are observations on the book.

This is from life experience. My wife offered to pray with them once and they were horrified! They thought she might say something blaphemous! No, although they call themselves Christians they really have their own distinct religion quite apart from most Christian Denominations.

Don't worry about offending them when they come to your door. Anyone going door to door knows they will be challenged, treated rudely or worse. Study your own Bible and be better prepared to give an answer when the opportunity presents itself.

Jehovah's Witnesses is a sect of Christianity who practice 1) Biblical fundamentalism and 2) have a notable focus on "the rapture" and the book of Revelation.

With #1 comes such practices as: not allowing blood transfusions, not celebrating holidays (which are largely Pagan in origin) or birthdays, and not wearing crosses (they realize that this is an after-the-fact artist's conception).

With #2 comes a special emphasis on who they think the "144,000 people saved" will be, when the rapture is coming (they used to pick specific dates but now just say "soon"), and most annoyingly, the need to "witness" (proselytize) to other people by going door-to-door. They believe "hell" is the grave, where the souls wait until judgement day.
