im equally appalled at the catholic church ( what I grew up with) having $600 million to pay off victims and defend it's priests while saying people who get divorced are going to hell.

Hello,

Not for long. We had one priest 30 years back who came from a wealthy family and had gotten a PHD in special Ed with a high paying job... his money. He bought a Porche 911 to drive around for sports, since he could not have a great social life, wife and family et al. This did not last long however because when he got transferred to a new diocese his boss, the Arch bishop made him get rid of the car and get a modest Pinto since the wrong message might be sent as people did not know it was his own work and family money.

Cheers,

Michael

PS - It was a hell of a fun car to drive in while it lasted!

Our pastor is very humble, he drives an old Toyota. A lot of pastor I no have a hard time paying the bills as a lot of people and I have been guilty myself at time rob the ministry of our tithes and offerings.
I think some of the mega churches may be stereo typed that way.

You know, there are some ministers like this, and they are terrible leaders. They set a bad example. And a lot of churches set bad examples, too. They don't even teach the right word. Look at this website, it explains a lot of churches, and how it is, and it's wrong. Kind of funny, but then again, kind of not.

excellent question!

it seems like the last days church given over to apostasy is most concerned with "building bigger barns (churches)" than giving benevolence to those in need. they say "we are putting it away for a rainy day" when it may already be POURING on the heads of some in the congregation; of course this is pure greed and anti-Christian:

"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." - Galatians 6:10.

No, he drives a Dodge pick-up (1989) and his wife drives a Ford Taurus (1991); both were bought from a used car dealership. I almost forgot to mention, he does not draw a salary through the church. He is self-employed and is retired from the US military.

Of all the cars in the church, his is the least expensive. He oftentimes has to use his own money to fund communitty based outreach programmes.

Thankfully my minister is not paid by the church but rather his hard earned job, that he uses to care for his family. There are also needy persons in my community and it is not because they cant do any better but simplty because they are a set of lazy, cruel and unambitious people. The way of the ghetto they call it, get rich quick or die trying. They prey on descent citizens through extortionist and other immoral pratices by pointing guns in thier faces.

Proverbs 26:16The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render an answer.

My church has asked for volunteers to send to school so that they can be skilled, not one of them has shown up.The only sympathy i feel for them is towards their lack of a better judgement where their lives are concerned.

If someone has worked long and hard for thier wealth, they have all right to enjoy it. The Bible did say we should feed the poor and care for our widows, yes, but how many people truly falls in this category. Most of us who are poor choose to be this way because we fail to make use of opurtunities while they were present. As long as one is not disabled in the sense that you canot work, i say find a job.

The people who are poor are those who have no other option than to remain this way. This is my principle " you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime" I will help when i can but i will not help lazy people!

I am a teacher by the way, and some of these people who are facing utility bills, wear some price shoes and cloth that i can only dream of buying!

Anyway, in essence, If any man or woman who spends upon their lusts and pleasures, what should maintain their families, they have denied the faith, and are worse than infidels. If professors of the gospel give way to any corrupt principle or conduct, they are worse than those who do not profess to believe the doctrines of grace. In this light alone will i go against them possesing such things.

1 Timothy 5:8 (New King James Version)
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Proverbs 6:6-11 (King James Version)
6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

8Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

God bless

Not at all, it not unusual for our pastor to walk to church. We are a small place, we do not even pay the pastor. He does what he does for the Love of the Lord, not for profit. Its not uncommon to see him take from his own pocket money to give to someone else when in need.

Not the true born again spirit filled pastors NO- my pastor would do anything to help anyone in the congregation- before he was helped himself. Do not put all Pastors into the prosperity gospel mold.

No. In fact, he used to make LOTS more money when he owned a landscaping business and volunteered at the church. After he finished his Bible degree, he sold his business and became the full-time pastor and took a HUGE cut in pay.
