It depends on:
1. the resolution of the camera (how many Megapixels)
2. how you set it for picture quality (low/1 star, medium/2 star, high/3 star).
3. how you set it for compression or 'raw' pictures.

Example: 5 Megapixel camera set for its best quality setting and no compression will use upwards of 30 Megabytes each picture. That's 33 pictures on a 1 Gb card.

Example: Same camera, but medium quality and light compression turned on. Each picture will use about 300kilobytes, so you could store 3300 pictures.

In general a 1 Gb card is a pretty 'large' amount of memory for a memory card, so you'll get a decent amount of pictures for 'normal' camera settings.

You didn't list your camera model, megapixel count, etc. Without that information, we can't answer your question. See the link in my sources, and that chart should be able to tell you.

depends on what you have the res setting at. a lower res will give you more space but the pics usually wont look good blown up any bigger then 5x7
