There is no one supplier. It depends on what You are looking for. Avery Outdoors, Mid South Shooters Supply, Midway USA supplies retailers with clothing and hunting products.

Stores Like Gander Mountain

Most outdoor equipment companies ship direct. Gander most likely gets some of it's stock sent right to its warehouse but a good chunk of it is coming right to the store via UPS or FedEx. When I worked for Eastern Mountain Sports, nearly everything except EMS clothing and gear and most accesories (belts, hats, gloves, etc.) came straight from the manufacturers' warehouses. A chain store has to be massive (like Wal-Mart) before they start using a centralized distribution center for everything. So there isn't a catalog based distribution company you can use just to fill orders...well, there might be, but I don't know what it is.)

If you want to carry certain brands the best bet is to speak to the company rep and see what their requirements are to be a retailer.

A list of gear reps is usually found in a book published by the Eastern Outdoor Representatives Association (EORA) that covers the Eastern US. I can't confirn if such a thing exists out west. My guess is it does.

Shop around at Gander Mountain and see what stuff they carry. Then contact those companies. Almost every gear company has info for becoming a merchant somewhere on their website.

Same should go for tackle and rods. Just find out what you want to carry and contact those companies. Can't offer much help with firearms. Gander, last I remember, sells used and new. New most likely come from Remington, Winchester, etc. Used probably from some place like Kittery Trading Post in Maine or from independent sellers.

Here in St. Petersburg, Fl., we have Bill Jackson's. You may remember a Visa commercial where you could learn to snow ski, white water rafting and other sports - that was Bill Jackson's. They also have a pistol range and large gun room. Every employee that I have dealt with was very knowledgeable. The only draw back, they don't have the best prices (prices are competitive but you can do a little better) but they do have the widest "locally available" selection. I have been to 2 of the Cabela's out west and they are amazing! I shop online there occasionally. When I lived in south Georgia the local feed store and Walmart had pretty much everything you needed.

I live in Eastern Iowa, and we have a Gander Mountain, ***** Sporting Goods, American Outfitters and Scheels. Scheels has the best selection, but the highest prices. I can get the same gun at Gander Mountain for about $60 less than Scheels.

Why not ask them?
What do you have to loose, they buy by such volume that you would not be considered a competitor.
You could also do a web search and see who could supply your needs for the best price.

Your best bet would be to contact the different manufactures direct. If they will not sell direct to you they can direct you to a supplier.
