For those who wonder why atheists are in this category, I ask you, if they do not belong here, where do they belong?

I could accept Philosophy, but the whole of religion falls under Philosophy. So, where exactly do you feel atheists belong in Y!A?

(Certainly not Cats, we've been down that road...)

I'd tend to say Politics and Law, based on how most Atheists work.

It is a Polticial Philosophy.

While I have joked in the past on it's being religious.

Techincally it isn't in the traditional sense.

Atheists don't have special clothes (robes, skull caps), Atheists don't have temples. Atheists don't ALL read from the same book of Scriptures (some are Dawkinists, other are not), it doesn't truly have rituals.

It's not like the Free Masons.

It's more like Republicans, Democarts, conservatives, Liberals, Libertarians, Commuinists, Socialists.

It's an AGENDA

And it attempts to move it's AGENDA through legal and poltical means.

Religion, of course, does the same thing but has to follow the rules of the AGENDA MAKERS just like ATHEISM does.

So, I guess, Technically we can say the ATHEIST MOVEMENT is a PAC or POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE or a LOBBIST GROUP.

But Not all Atheists participate in that aspect of the movement.

But we cannot escape the fact that Atheists are ADVOCATES and another word for that in religious circles would be EVANGELISTS.

False. I am 30 years old. I was not raised religiously, and have been more or less atheist for as long as I can remember. At no time did gods ever seem more real to me than santa claus or the easter bunny. I am heterosexual. I have been married for 7 years and I have an 18-month old son. We are all very happy. However, I believe that discriminating against any persons for such superficial reasons as age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, etc, is morally reprehensible. I don't have any doubts in my atheism. I am open to new ideas, but the must be grounded in reality, i.e., supported by evidence. I am comfortable with the fact that I don't know everything, and I don't feel the need to invoke mythology to explain what is currently unknowable, such as the origin of life. I feel it is VERY morally wrong to (a) deny scientific facts or discoveries because they contradict your ancient beliefs or (b) attempt to push your belief system onto other people or hold it against someone if they don't believe like you do. I have no problem with religion or religious people per se, only when they attempt to deny reality or spread your religion. If people would accept their holy texts with a grain of salt, as metaphorical instead of literal, and accept that other people find comfort in different belief systems (that there is no ONE true religion, and that some of us don't need it at all), then EVERYONE would get along just fine.

Science and philosophy are actually categories of religion -- the Universal Reality of the One Uncaused Infinite Father-Force having no outside and no beyond.

So-called "atheists" could briefly use the philosophy section; until they are also Spirit-Transformed into Light and Life Eternal or extinguished. Choose wisely.

Can you PROVE also that you do not exist? Ha !

If someone is hungry, they belong in the restaurant category - atheists most definitely belong in the R & S catagory. They need to find the truth and get what they've been missing.

What category pampers to those suffering self denial?

Atheist belong in R&S because they are the anti-thesis of religion, just like Satanism is the anti-thesis of Catholicism!

Agnostics are here just to stir the pot to keep everyone mixed!

Atheists don't 'fall' into a category. They stand proudly in any category. And like anyone else they can go where they choose.

Although atheism is not a religion in and of itself, its is a point of view related to religion and belongs in this category.

It's all irrelevant. People ask questions and people answer them. It's an open forum. For those true believers who want to restrict questions and answers to other true believers, open your own discussion group and restrict membership.

..but here you can't run and you can't hide.

If there were a "Secular" category Atheism would fit.
