Just wondering if there was a way to find out how much a church makes a year and what the "Staff" of these churches get paid? I know that most churches are Tax Exempt but do they still have to report it and if so to whom?
Thank you

Part of the requirement of being tax exempt is the disclosure of what they bring in, and what they pay out in salaries, benefits, etc.

There should be a financial statement that they should be willing to give you, should you ask.

If they do not, or find an excuse not to, then RUN.

Our church has a policy that any MEMBER of the church can see the books, just set up a meeting with the sec or pastor. And we have a person who comes in every year to look over the books, suggest possible ways of managing money and files the taxes for us. It is his ministry. While he is there he gives a sermon on sound money management according to bible doctrine.

Our parish gives us a detailed financial report every year (more than I need or wish to know frankly). Where every cent came from and what every cent was used for. Individual salaries however should be confidential. The fact you are curious about it doesn't give you the right to know such personal information.

They still have to report information to the IRS because they pay salaries to their employees.

Good Luck!!!
