Really isn't a question but to see if anyone else has any insight or expereience. Last week cat had surgery to fix broken leg. A rod and pin in the femur and wire mesh around the bone. She's been walking on it & gets better each day. Today I went to give her her meds. She doesn't like it but handles it fine. I bent down, petted her & gave meds. As soon as I finished she got up, hissed and growled loudly at me, which is new. She was holding her back leg up which she hasn't been doing & didn't even do when it was broken. She walked on 3 legs &tried putting pressure on the back leg but it seemed wobbly so she held it up. I slowly approached her to look & she wobbled under bed. I guess my question is, surely she didn't break it again, right? Maybe it is just stiff & sore? I have never dealt with an animal with a broken leg. Right now, I can't get to her to take her to the vet. I can't afford another 1k to fix it. Could she have broken the rod & pin? Any ideas?

She may have injured it again or it may just be really sore today. Did the vet give you pain meds to give her for the first few days and she has no more of them? You should call the vet and ask his opinion. I really believe that it is just sore, but better safe than sorry.

Take her to the vet right away since she did have surgery to fix a broken bone. My 11 month old kitten had to have surgery when he was only 4 months old for a broken leg. After the surgery did your vet put a cast or splint on her leg? If not that was a mistake on your vet. If she doesn't have one on, go to the vet ASAP and have them put one on her. My little guy had his splint on for 2 weeks after his surgery. Also are you doing anything to restrict her movements? If she was running, walking and/or jumping, then a pin could've gone out of place. For the 2 weeks that my little guy had his splint on I had to keep him kennel confined as much as possible. Again, take her to the vet as soon as possible, it's not going to cost that much to find out what's wrong. Good luck and I hope your cat gets better quick.

since you spent all that money to get it fixed in the first place, i'd sure hate for it to get messed up now. call the vet--she does need to be seen. with the vets i worked for, any follow-up on anything like that was included. i don't know about your vet, but since you have already paid them that much, even if there is a charge, they should let you make payments. don't tell them you don't have any money until after they fix it if there is a problem. $1000 seems like an awful lot for that type of surgery- in watching the doctors i worked for do it it didn't seem that complex and they sure never charged anywhere near that much

You must take her to the vet!!! She could have various types of complications. Cats even post surgery have the nasty habit of getting into horrible situations by pushing their luck. She could have jerked it, sprained, internally hurt herself, pulled badly.. who knows. Only a vet will be able to tell you. If shes not putting her leg down its hurting, and if shes just started doing that now, then something is wrong.

Obviously, something's happened to that leg, since she seemed to be mending before but now she's all growly and hissy.

Call up the vet who did the surgery and get his input. He'll probably need to see her again, but hopefully since it's follow-up after the surgery it won't cost another thousand bucks.

Call the vet and ask about it. If it is broken again you can't just leave it as the cat will be in pain and it won't just fix itself.

She may have had a sudden burst of pain and didn't want you to touch it. When my dog got attacked, he hid behind the couch. So your cat may just not wanna make the pain worse for you....
