I different color race came up to me out of true disrespect and to me to go back where I came from. I laugh at them and said well if you pay for my airfair and buy me house house out there and pay my bills I would go back. When i told my family how i went about things the told me that i was stupid and i should have went off on that person instead of giving in like that. But i told them that thats what that person would expect from me . And i'm that kind of person who likes to go out of the box and othing people don't expect from me. Do you think i was wrong?

Hello,

No, each person has their own way of handling situations like that. In life we often get confronted by our detractors and sometimes we do not often come up with the perfect come back right at that point in time and a brilliant line comes to mind later. Like they say, hind sight is always 20/20.

Therefore your parents may have seen a different way of approaching the person but your approach was pretty good by telling the person to put his money where his mouth is if he feels so strongly in his beliefs.

Bravo,

Michael Kelly

No, because you made a valid point to the person who told you to go back from whence you came. You live here now, you have a life, a job, a home. Going off on a person just shows that you have little control over yourself. It would also give them the satisfaction that they "got your goat" so to speak. Just remember that at some point in history someone had to be an immigrant. No family just magically appeared here, none. If nothing else, check early human migratory patterns.

You handled the situation very well. People are rude, it happens. In my mind going off on a person only makes the situation worse. Hypothetically, if the person believe that race X is violent and shouldn't be here, a person of race X going off on that person only proves his point.
I like how you handled it with humor. You got the last laugh and he's the one feeling stupid for even saying that to you.
