My niece is 11 and I feel if she wants to have boys in her room with the door closed, I don't see a problem with it. What goes on in her bedroom, regardless of who owns the house, is really no one's business really. Not even mine.

Does anyone else agree with me? If not, how old do you feel a child have to be in order for their parents to feel anything in their child's bedroom is none of their concern?

Make sure and buy that big box of condoms. Get a clue.

It'll certainly become your concern, and her parents', when she gets knocked up, won't it? Or dies of an overdose. And if it's your house, you'd be surprised how much the courts believe it's your business what goes on in your house.

Door closed so she can masturbate all she wants or just be alone, fine. Boys in bedroom, door closed or open is NOT OK (a question here just recently about a mother seeing her sweet 12 year old daughter performing oral sex on her boyfriend, with the door open).

What goes on in her bedroom as long as she lives at home will always be the concern of the adults responsible for her care. What they do or don't do about it is another matter.

Why do I believe that you're the niece and that you want your aunt to butt out of your life? Sorry, sweetie, ain't gonna happen.

when she moves out and pays her own rent, then she could have whoever the hell she wants in her room. Yes, it is my business who my daughter has in her bedroom. I have two daughters, one is 16, the other one is 20, and NOT one of them is allowed to have a boy in their room, for what? You want privacy, then sweety, move the hell out and you could have all the privacy in the world. The living room and family room could be as private as you want it to be. Plus, I think a boy would respect a girl more if she doesn't allow him in her bedroom, 11 year old or 21 years old, they have no business in their room. My daugters friends all come over all the time, their girlfriends are in and out of their room, but the boys know my rules and they are all fine with it, actually they respect my decision and always say "that's cool", so kids get used to whatever rules you instill in them from young age. I am the boss of my house, what I say goes, if they don't like it, you know what they say, "don't let the door knob hit you on the way out"! LOL

Are you also an advocate of teen pregnancy? You must be, either that or you're clueless. I can't beleive an adult would even say the words you did.

Of course a child isn't allowed to have the door shut with a child of the other sex. I don't care if it's a boy or girl. They do not have the door shut and absolute privacy at the age of 11.

Soon you'll have a little baby too!

When they pay for the roof over their head. I don't mean paying room and board, living somewhere else! My daughter is 11 and over my dead body will a boy be in her room. If she wants company they can stay in the living room. Would you leave the same 11 year old girl alone in the room on a computer? Hopefully not. A CHILD needs supervision. A bedroom is a bedroom. In my house, it is used for sleeping only!

I doubt you'll find many who will agree with you. At least I hope you don't. Kids should have some privacy, but an 11 year old in her bedroom with a boy with the door shut? Are you serious? Until my daughter is 18, if she decides to start having sex it is my business. She will not be having any boys in her room with the door shut.

When the child has their own place paying their own rent. My 17 year old daughter knows what would happen if I caught a boy in her room, much less with her door shut. As long as my kids live under my roof, everything that goes on in my house is my business.

Never. It's a parent's job to know what goes on in their children's bedrooms especially the daughter's bedroom. It's the parents who pay for their house therefore the children are living there for free and are subjected to their parents rules as long as they live there. No I don't agree with you at all. I would murder my child if she brought a boy home and put him in her room with the door closed unless it was with her son, brothers, or male cousins. Do you even have children? It's a parent's job to know what goes on in their child's life and you'll understand better when you have children. I would never allow my little sister and brother to have people of the opposite sex in their rooms.

Wow. You are insane. No, I do not agree with you. When my children have their own bedroom-in their own house, which they are paying for-then I might consider it to be none of my business. Until then, it is mine.

Noone in their right mind would think that it is okay for an eleven year old girl to have boys in their room with the doors closed and see it as no concern of theirs. It would be the parents business when she is 12 and pregnant, for sure!

I sure hope you're not her guardian or anyone who makes decisions in her rearing. You are just asking for trouble.
The age when a parent no longer had the last word regrading what goes on in a childs' room is when that child's room is no longer in the parents' home.
The only time my children's room doors were closed was when they were asleep, alone, or gone.

When they are moved out into their own home. How could someone be so dense as to think that it is ok for a kid of any age to have someone of the opposite sex in their bedroom with the door closed?
