I just inquired about how christians can be 100 % sure that they're religion is real, when there are so many other religions out there that believe the exact same thing. I got some decent answers, but then i got answers like "If you know Jesus you will know the truth" and "god is the one and only" etc. Well those kinds of respnses are exactly what im talking about. How do you know that, when there are islamic people who 'know' that they;re right too.

They can't.

They'll say that they have faith.

But then again, "faith is believing in something you know ain't true". - Mark Twain

Christianity is very real. However, I believe you meant "Is Christianity true" ;-)

The problem is, many Christians "find God" through one scenario or another. They then find it impossible to conceive that someone else experiencing the same scenario won't come to the same conclusion. Hence there are many testimonies shared as "proof" for God.

Another one of these experiences is prayer. They are sure they can feel God's presence during prayer, so they are sure other people will. Even when you say that you didn't feel God when you attempted to pray, this will often be attributed to a failing on the part of the non-christian i.e. they didn't pray in the "correct" way.

The other biggie is reading the bible. Christians see bible as the ultimate written authority on truth. They feel that, in reading it open mindedly, you will convert. Again, when someone reads the bible and doesn't convert (or even converts from Christianity) the accusation will be against the reader for not being open minded.

Christianity is based largely on experiencing God in one way or another. Since they are confident they experienced God (albeit not in a physical way) they conclude their religion is the correct one. Thus any that disagree with it must be false.

Isn't it obvious that there is a problem with human nature that requires a solution? We kill, lie, steal, slander, etc. etc. Everyone is born with a conscience. Some ignore it so long that it becomes ineffective. But most people if they think back far enough will remember that they once knew right from wrong. That conscience is God speaking to us trying to get us to repent of our sins and follow Him. He provided the answer to the problem by giving up his Son to pay the penalty for our sins. All He asks is that we believe in Him and do our best to follow Him. What's so hard about that? Even a 4 year old understands it.

There is a kind of knowing that comes directly from God to the human heart, by the Holy Spirit of God. This is described in Matthew's Gospel:

"When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven."
Matthew 16:13-17

You see here Peter received spiritual revelation directly from God the Father.
This is what happens when someone is born gain; born of the Spirit. They receive a direct revelation from God that Jesus is God's appointed Savior of the world, that he did die and was raised again from the dead; but that more directly - He died for YOU! He really is alive and He cares about You! It brings a peace and assurance into the soul that resists all contradictory evidence, because it is communicated spirit to spirit; that is, from the Holy Spirit, to your human spirit, and it leaves one with the conviction they are indeed a child of God.
Please read the First Letter of John in the New Testament.
Peace!

honestly, because they do not know how else to answer you because to them that is the only truth they need, they choose not to examine it further or question anything, but blindly fallow because that is all they know, there are similarities in other religions, everyone who has a religion knows theirs is the right and correct path, otherwise why would they follow it, and since faith is personal, they really do not need to explain why, the problem is the damning of others for believing differently. Good question

A question such as this is easy yet hard to answer...... because of all the denominations, faces of religion, and people in the world...... To me Christ is as real as you are, to others he is just a myth....... but, YOU ask if Christianity is real, and that in itself implies you want Christians to answer..... am I wrong ??? How can those who do not believe in Christ answer this ?? We have NO other way to answer than the answers you received, we do have *faith* that the word of God is REAL, so therefore Christianity is real, to US........ IF you ask this same question to Islamic people, you would get the same answers but in a different version..... Am I right ?? Ask this question to pagans, wiccans, etc., you will get their answers...... If you address this to us *Christians* we will give *Christian* answers....... right ????? *smile*, just a point........ God bless

Please tell me the religions out there that state the exact same thing as Christians do, I am interesting in hearing this. I mean, Christians are the only ones that baptize by water... So how can another religion do that? When none admit to doing that?

It boils down to faith. That's what makes it religion instead of science.

Faith isn't a valid way of obtaining knowledge.
