Sure, that is great around this time of year. Probably not the best thing to wear to the wedding but the rehersal should be perfect.

I don't think that's formal enough. For cocktail, he could go with a linen (it's a summer material), but seersucker is more mid-afternoon. Really, I've seen some cocktail attire that doesn't even include a jacket. He may be able to get away with dress slacks, button down shirt and tie.

I think the seersucker is a little too casual for a cocktail evening affair unless it's outside and your dress will be more casual as well.

Cocktail attire is more formal, I think. Is it during the day or at night? I would say if it is daytime seersucker would be fine, but if it is at night then I would go fancier.

I agree with the peeps who say it's too informal for a cocktail party. If it were an afternoon thing at this time of year, it would be fine. But not in the evening.

It is appropriate especially if there's a party after wards. By the way do you remember the joke Rip Taylor used to say? He would talk about his suit and would say "you like my suit? It's a seerssucker, I'm the sucker that bought it at Sears"! Hello?, is this thing on? I always thought it was funny.

not sure what a seersucker suit looks like but if it means regular suit then i don't see why not.... dress pants and simple shirt and tie would do fine too. have fun!

I thought Sears stopped making seersucker many years ago. That is not a formal suit. Do not let him wear it.

i am not a pro on etiquette however it is a suit regardless of what material and it is only the rehearsal dinner so maybe it will be okay . i would ask the other people who will be there.
