I wasn't referring to size, or weather on the planet for the simple minded.

The planets didn't evolve?
So before the big bang the Earth was already there, with the right amount of H20 and oxygen to substain life?

Obviously this question has nothing to do with either Atheism or Evolution. The conditions when are solar system condensed were very chaotic. The planets formed at different distances from the center of the disk which became the sun. The regions of the disk were different being different distances from the center. The regions would have had different temperatures, pressures and mass densities. Why in the world would you ever expect them to be the same.

The planets "evolved" by changing form as they developed. During this time, they were influenced by the conditions in their area. So Mercury is a hot ball of rock, because it's so close to the sun. Earth has liquid surface water because its at a distance where water can stay liquid, and not freeze or boil away. Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants because most of the heavier materials in the area had been drawn into the center of the system by the sun's gravity.
It's not biological evolution the way that plants and animals evolved and adapted, but it's a similar process. In both cases, the subjects were affected by conditions around it at the time.

The planets went through chemical evolution, not biological evolution. Try spinning a centrifuge and see how it separates - that's what happened in the solar system, basically.

First of all the planets did not evolve in the "theory of evolution" sense. The theory of evolution explains how life evolves not inanimate matter. Many things can be self replicating but this does not mean they are evolving per say.
Second of all, life forms on this planet are evolving and they are all different.
I don't see your point at all.

This question doesn't make sense. Planets are different for the same reason two rocks you pick up off the ground aren't exactly the same. They might have different components, they might have been formed under different temperatures. There are also differences in gravitational pull depending on the location of the planet, and it's orbit...
There are a billion different reasons why planets aren't the same.

The planets didn't *evolve*, they were formed from matter produced by, or left over from, the big bang.
Evolution applies to living things, and planets are inanimate objects.

You're mixing up evolution (a theory in biology) with astronomy (a field of physics). The planets did not evolve.

The mass distribution around the forming Sun was not homogeneous and the solar radiation received is an inverse function of distance squared.

Because they didn't evolve. Evolution is purely biological. Planets formed, they did not evolve.

Good question. Main reason is because of their size and distance from the Sun, they formed with different elements and were impacted by different meteors. So now they have very different elements, heat, size and numbers of McDonald's drive-thrus (Earth #1!).
