I don't get it either. It is not like he said anything negative. He just said he won the race for all his fans that have to listen to all the bulls*** everyone has to say. What iswrong with that??? If it had been Gordon, they would of let it go. It's because it's smoke. He is a lot like Dale Sr., but Sr got away with more. All screw it... GO STEWART!!!!

Stewart was stating his opinion, much like Jr. did a while back. They both said "sh*t" and they both got fined. The other people answering are right, it does depend on what the "word" was, some kind of rule thing with TV and all.

But c'mon. These guys are race car drivers . . . basically mechanics. And I've yet to meet a decent mechanic that didn't let out a swear word every now and then. It's their personality, I personally didn't find anything offensive.
What's next? Is NASCAR gonna start making the drivers take ettiquite classes?
Geesh, gimme a break.

And I agree with Stewart, his fans DO take a lot of "bulls**t" .

Smokefan is right. The FCC says *** is ok and **** is bad.

Montoya caused the wreck BTW. His car was slow on restarts and Truex had a run on him. Montoya cut in front of him and slammed on the brakes. Had he let the faster car go there would have been no wreck.

Harvick didn't break FCC regulations, like Tony did. To the FCC a** is ok, sh** is not.

And please...Truex did not cause the wreck. Just because Rusty Wallace says so, doesn't mean its true. Juan was driving all over the track, trying to block Martin...

The wreck was caused by Montoya blocking, not Truex. A** must not be a bad word, at least to NASCAR

It has nothing to do with FCC rules. The FCC's decency standards for language don't apply to cable. The decency rules only apply to broadcast television because those are the "public" airwaves and are free for everyone. Because you pay for cable, they are exempt from the normal rules. That said, most cable stations in the interest of keeping things family friendly refrain from airing profanity.

*** isn't technically considered a profanity by the FCC unless it follows "dumb," "stupid," etc.; or comes before "hole," "face," etc.

Sh!t is always considered a profanity. NASCAR didn't technically have to fine Smoke for saying sh!t, because he didn't cost anyone any fine money by saying it. They typically do fine drivers for using profanity in any live interview, because it's poor taste.

I don't understand that either. It sends a message to the drivers that depending on who the owner is then they can get away with it. I was at Watkins-Glen for the race and Montoya should of been fined up the butt.

That is the way it has been for the longest time. Alot of the time they don't think of what they say, they are hot, tired, thirsty and just finished a race now they have a camera in their face they just say what comes to mind without thinking and editing it.

Only reason I can think of is Tony has made a point and nascar didn't like it. Plus he seems to always say what he thinks, and it was just a common reaction to fine him as always.
