You may have the following problem. For prevention and treatment information, visit the website below.

Pseudofolliculitis barbae is a medical term for persistent inflammation caused by shaving. The etymology comes from "pseudo" (false) "follicle" (hair) "itis" (inflammation) "barbae" (of the beard). It is also known by the initials PFB or colloquial terms such as "razor bumps."

PFB is most common on the male face, but it can also happen on other parts of the body where hair is shaved or plucked, especially areas where hair is curly and the skin is sensitive, such as genital shaving (more properly termed psuedofolliculitis pubis or PFP).

After a hair has been shaved, it begins to grow back. Curly hair tends to curl into the skin instead of straight out the follicle. PFB can make the skin look itchy and red, and in some cases, it can even look like pimples. These inflamed papules or pustules can form especially if the area becomes infected.

This is especially problematic for men of African descent and other people with curly hair. If left untreated over time, this can cause keloid scarring in the beard area.

At the salon where get waxed the sell Tend Skin for people who bump up. I got a sample and took it home for when I use the razor and works right away. It is drying so use it under a moisturizer. There is also something call bump stop that they sell in pharmacies. Also when my husband bumps up he uses one of those green Scotch Guard pads (you know for pots) to exfoliate and to lift the hair.

My son has had the same problem. He started using a product from Arbonne. It is in their mens line called NutrimenC Resurface Shave Gel followed by the moisturizer. He noticed within a few days the difference. Go to www.arbonne.com and look at the products you order online it takes about 2 days to receive your order.

Exfoliate your skin once a week using a paste of honey and sugar. It's gentle and honey is very moisturizing so it'll help clear your skin. For a really good cream look for Monsia skincare online, its vitamin C and natural stuff which will help a ton with uneven skin and acne scars. They have toner, cleanser, night and day creams. Really good stuff and works like a charm if you use them properly along with good hygiene and a good diet.
