I have a friend who lives near a mosque. She says that every year during Ramadan - the people going to the mosque - park wherever they want - block driveways - etc. She has said that Muslims have a superior attitude. And now she is now starting to refer to Muslims as "those people" - etc. What can I say to her? I hate to hear her talk this way - and yet I understand her frustration. Please give me the words/explanation - so I can turn her attitude around.

Thanks!

I live around the corner from a church, and this happens in my neighborhood, too. It's not limited to Muslims.

Tell her that any public space that does not have ample parking for its clients will mean the residential area can be clogged with cars. This happens regardless of religion or the type of establishment.

I would ask her why she feels Muslums are behaving differently from other people. I would also keep speaking up about the discomfort I feel when she says "those" people.

try working with the mosque to put restrictions on the parking.... and to have volunteers direct the drivers.. i know that during ramadan every person wants to be in the mosque and that no parking lot is big enough for all the people... so may be as we did in my local mosque is that we rented the parking lot of a resturan across the street... and dare i say, that resturant makes more money off our 1 month rent than through out the whole year.. lol

If the only thing she sees wrong about Islam is the fact that they park their cars wherever they want, then she has a deeper understanding of Muslims than most people I know.

well sister that is really abad action of Muslims u can tell the imam so that he can tell them and draw their attention to that bad attitude in general , in order to change it.

and u can tell her that this wrong and u also feel bad about it so that she can understand that this action isn';t right and u as a Muslim disagree ..... try to explain be honest and act normal..

good luck and may Allah forgive us all.

They will not answer this question...nothing to gain.

Besides they are "those people" that is the way they want it.. They kill their neighbors over seas, they would do the same here but secular law is always more peaceful than a theocracy.

maybe if those muslims did NOT block driveways and did not act with a "superior attitude" she might like them more... perhaps if those muslims apologized for 9/11 and acted against all terrorism... she might like them more..

Tell her to buy 50 pounds of sliced bacon, and to put a slice on the door handles of each car that is offending her. Then video tape the owners when they come back to the cars and see the bacon. That should be a hoot.
