Elementals are a very different order of being than what god/desses are.
Elementals are creatures purely of whatever element they inhabit, so in a real way they are unbalanced and therefore unpredictable - you get ALL the pros and cons of each pure, unadulterated element, without any other factors to mitigate it. They don't really have morals, per se, outside of what is in the nature of that element to do/say/be.
So, an air elemental would be highly intellectual, but ungrounded (lack of Earth) - unbalanced work with Air Elementals will leave you feeling very flighty and air-headed, and likely very unfocused (lack of Fire), and unable to assert yourself and your utilize the knowledge in an effective way (lack of Fire).
I'm sure you can see how this would play out with each individual Element and associated Elemental.
When working with the Elements and elementals, you need to maintain strict balance within yourself, or you'll start experiencing all kinds of inconveniences that could actually be dangerous. (I know someone who was working too much with Fire elementals, and ended up with unexplained fires in their homes. And I know someone else who was working too much with Water elementals and ended up with a flooded basement!)
I'm sure how you can see how working with Elementals would be much different than working with a God/dess - who are multifaceted beings that hold all 4 (or 5 if you include Spirit) elements in some combination or another.

LOL Kharm, you want a year and a day course in ONE paragraph?
Essentially the elementals are able to be harnessed for Spellcasting but the spells must be carfefully constucted, as their magick is unbalanced as they can only effect the areas that they govern. As for worship, there ARE meditations for the individual elementals in order to attune you to a particular element that you have difficulty with. Also, depending on you meditative needs, you may call upong only one or two of them to guide you through your meditation. Earth is responsible for Grounding, building foundations (physical and emotional as well as intellectual). Air is for creativity, music, song, artistry, craftmanship, stuff like that. Fire is for emotional aspects such as Love, lust, anger and the like. Water is for making changes in your life, and of course Spirit is for guiding your spiritual develpoment, worship, oneness with the Divine.
Hope this helps a little bit.

elemental magic is connecting to the energy within that element and guiding it or just feeling it, not unlike the practice of Tai Chi, when you focus and go through the dance like movements you are building up energy around you and in you, manipulating the energy. This is how someone who barely weighs 80 lbs can knock someone 300 lbs flat, this is just a simple not thorough explanation but there is so much more to it. blessings

elemental magick can be practiced with or without calling on deity. basically you use the elements--earth, air, fire and water--in your spellwork. In general, earth energy is grounding energy, you can use it for things you want to take on a physical form, like maybe money spells because money is a physical object. air energy is used used to help with thoughts and maybe emotions, though fire might be better for the latter. Fire energy is great for love spells because fire and passion go hand in hand. water energy is good for causing something to change into something else, or is also good for love spells because sex involves fluids flowing....lol.
one other element, spirit, is often called upon as well.
