YES - Mormons are Christian that's why it's called The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints.
I believe they said Foust simply died of natural causes. He was pretty old and wasn't looking very good during the past few general conferences.

He was a good Christian, and a good Mormon.
He died of “causes incident to age” at his home Friday 10 August, 2007 surrounded by his family.

All our goodness never gets us to heaven. Accepting Jesus and His goodness will...not the Mormon version of Jesus either...but the One who died and shed His blood for my sin...
