Actually the sabbath day was created to teach man that rest is good. The church part was created by man. You can keep holy the sabbath day by resting and recreating with you family and friends. Do not let legalism come between you and your creator.

I think that there are several reasons for us to gather together as christians, even if we don't attend a formal church.
1) The church is depicted as the body of Christ. In an example in the new testament, it talks bout some of us are the ears, etc. For me that means that each of us bring our strengths and gifts together and that as a body, we are complete. So we need one another to be complete.
2) When we come together we build relationships with other Christians. Over and over the bible speaks of encouraging and building up of one another, particularly in the books in the New Testament that were letters written by the Apostle Paul to the churches in Galatians, Ephesians, etc.
3) There is a verse in the Old Testament that talks about the 3 fold chord (I think it's in Jeremiah or Isaiah). But when you couple that with the armor of God, you realize that we don't have protection with the armor on our backs. So, how can we protect our backs. WIth that 3-fold chord. What is the 3-fold chord? "Where to or 3 are gathered in my name I will be there" so we literally watch each other's backs when we pray for one another. When we stand protecting each other's backs, we actualy are protecting our own backs as well. So if 3 of you stand back to back, you are able to watch anything coming up against you.
4) As Christians, we are to help one another as a community of Christ. How can we do this, if we do not get to know one another?
5) One reason there are so many discrepancies between what people believe in the Bible is because we struggle to learn and interpret it ourselves. For that reason, it's better to have a minister who is trained in the Bible, help us to understand the scriptures and teach us how to rightly divide the word of truth.

I do believe but I don't go to church. When I was little, they used to lock the doors in church and I always felt that I couldn't get out, a bit agoraphobic really and even now if I have to go to say a wedding for example I still get a bit panicky. I think if you lead a good life and try to adhere to your faith then there is no need to feel guilty about not going to church.

We go to church to receive sacraments, like communion, and share the word of God. Knowing the Word of God is one of the most powerful weapons in Spiritual Warfare. The Sword of the Spirit is the word of God.
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, then don't even say anything regarding this because you have no idea.

Jesus Said I have come not to destroy the law but to fulfill the law. Through the Law all are condemned. All have sinned and no one will be saved. God provided a way for everyone to be with him by the belief in Jesus Christ. Also the acknowledgment of Jesus Christ being the only son of the most high God. And that he died for our sins

There's more to it than what you've stated and the Scripture you quoted is the basis for it. You go for rest, renewal, knowledge and worship opportunities. If you're only going to see and be seen, you're going for the wrong reasons. Yes, fellowship is good, but you need to be "up and about the Father's business..." in terms of getting your mind focused on Him when you go.

Remember the Sabbath, and keep it holy.
Book of Acts says that the christian community lived as one, shared things in common, and gathered for the breaking of the bread (Eucharist).

A church is just a place where people gather to worship. A church can be anywhere.
