Actually due to the extreme temperature difference in the air the light can burst.

The heat from and incandescent bulb would cause the glass to explode when subjected to the extreme cold that a freezer puts out. While there are other bulbs out there that can handle this rapid temperature change, the issue is more than likely a paridym that everyone assumes there should only be a light in the refrigerator part.

Just a guess though.

There is a light in our freezer - maybe you have an older model?

Hello:

What an excellent question, and a very unique question at that too! I think it has to do with the fact because you can store alot more food and beverages in the refrigerator than you can in the freezer. I starred your question because it is an excellent question! ;-)
