I am thinking of hiring one for our family's holiday in Australia. We have never driven one before.

It is a little bit tougher to drive. It has a much longer wheel base so it takes wider turns. You have to compensate for the wider turns by making your turn later then normal or you may hit a curb or worse yet a pole on the corner. Best to practice in an empty parking lot.
Also you must have the rig level at night or the refrigerator while not work properly.
A class A is easier to drive (full size) and there are fewer blind spots. A clacc C (van type driving compartment) has more blind spots making it more difficult to drive.
Also be careful about wind. You are driving a great big sail down the road and a strong gust of wind can push you right off the side of the road. Slow way down if you are getting hit by a side wind.
Also conserve on the water. There should be an on/off switch on the shower head. Rinse down. then water off, soap up, water on, rinse off.
Do not use too much 12 volt electricity to the point that the battery gets too low(9 volts or so) if it gets too low you may burn out the alternator.
Have a great trip!

Never in my life have I done this. There are too many cars and shopping carts in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Too many obstacles.
