Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?
Well, WHY???

I saw this on a TV program about atheism.
Maybe there is no good or evil. Maybe those are just labels humans have put on states of being -- things we don't like we call evil and things we like we call good.
Assuming that there is good and evil almost seems to presume that a higher being exists and made a decision about what was good and what was evil. That turns the argument on its head.

God is able and willing to prevent evil. If He does not it is because He respects our free will. God retains control of all circumstances, though, and is able to draw good out of evil.

Don't try to understand God- it will never happen. I will say though that when I have gone through bad things I come out stronger and better in the end- perhaps God lets us go through things that we can handle even if we don't think we can. But since it sounds like you want to argue and not want something to really think about I am not going to expand on that.

God gave man free will, without which man could not truly love God. However, man can misuse that free will, including twisting something that might be good, such as religion, into something that is evil. Until the unbeliever can show that a universe with love (even though it entails the possibility of evil) cannot be better than a universe without love (even though it entails no possibility of evil), then the "problem of evil" argument will always falter. It is not God who caused the human suffering and so forth, but man's misuse of free will.

The Christian answer will be able but not willing, of course meaning he's evil. Too bad they don't see that.
CJ: If God is omnipotent, he can engineer free will without evil. Why do you limit him on this when you don't on other things?

smiling sam,
So What you are saying that you have no choice in who or what you worship? Why would you worship something that allows evil to flourish? does that not make you in some way evil?
Are you afraid or has this entity's bribe of eternal bliss in heaven been enough to pacify you?

God is perfectly able to do anything that he wishes to do. Its is not God's fault that many of the people in the earth are rebellious and disobedient. People have taken prayer out of the school and want to take him out of the pledge, and even off the money. They tell him to get out of everything not realizing that without him there is no good thing and when something goes wrong in their lives they immediately blame God by saying things like how could God let this happen. God doesn't let bad things happen that is of the devil. If you want to see God move in your life, schools, finances and your nation stop asking him to leave and invite him in. Be Blessed!

It's hard to fault the Christians for being the judgmental fear mongers that they are. The apple does indeed fall close to the tree.

the Devinne god mother > is a alien...and being a alien she may have a different way of thinking than we do.
she seems more interested in creating planets than---- taking care of life that develop es on those planets
1. she creates stars
2.she creates planets
3.she creates heavens
but i believe she may delegate responsibility to the [planets them selves] to create [organic life]
our planet created life--our planet said--the law is
>kill or be killed, eat or be eaten<
the cosmic mother may? not care how [our planet ...runs it own organic life]
so we shouldn't blame the [Devinne mother] for our misery
