Which branh is better and why, the United States Marine Corps, or the army? I am an Sergeant Infantry Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps and have been challanged at work by the receptionist to find other people that believe the Marine Corps is better. She said I only believe that the Marine Corps is better, because I am a Marine. She wants proof and she wants to see it from someone else. Help me out here.

As an Air Force Dog handler I do the same job as anyone else in the same career field no matter what branch but I did PT with the marine Corp one time and I am not too proud to admit that I almost had to go to the hospital. I have always had the most respect for Marines but after seeing that they were able to finish their PT session it really kicked in how much you guys can accomplish. People can call you guys names all they want and maybe it's true to a certain extent. In my job it does take a bit of insanity to be the only one going into a building with a bomb when everyone else is running out. With the marines it's the same thing except they are always running into something when everyone else is running out wheather it's gunfire, uncleared buildings, open area with mortar attacks, or explosive infested areas. You guys suffer the blunt of it and I'm humble enough to admit it.The army does play a large role but they don't even experience half of what a marine goes through. To me the marines are the backbone to all the other branches but we are always strongest when we're together.

I'm a 25-year Navy veteran. In thouse 25 years I did 8 years with Fleet Marine Forces. On none of those assignments did I ever ask for a transfer back to the fleet or to shore duty. The Marines are the best at accomplishing their unique mission which is to land upon a hostile piece of real estate, pistol-whip the natives and hang around long enough till they elect a government we like. And your MOS is the point of the spear on those operations. It's emblematic of an old piece of poetry written for a deceased Marine rifleman:
"Open those gates Heaven
Here comes another Oh Three Eleven".

Ok I'm Navy and I will tell you strait up that the marines kick ***. Everyone knows that the marines are the first ones in and the last ones out. I have a friend in the army and even he says the marines are fricken awesome. Besides the fact that the marines have the highest PFT standards the marines are mentally tougher than some army guys I know. Dont listen to her, Marines are BADASS.

if the Marine corps are as good as they think. we should do away with the army save money how about that. the marine's help the army many of times and the army did the same many of times we need both the army and marines and the navy, air force & coast guard.and the boy and girl scouts.

It is somewhat like compairing apples to oranges, they are both fruit but not the same.

Marines seem to address different stuations then the army.

Every ones view point is different. Depends on where you are stationed, what your MOS is, how you feel about it (if you make the best of it or complain). Chain of command plays a big part.

I chose the Army for my reasons.

The marines always go in first because they are the toughest. Their training is longer than the other branches. What other proof do you need?
