I have biten my nails since I have been 3. I am 14 and I finally stopped. It actually not that hard. Just let them grow and keep reminding urself not to bite them. And..u can always put ear wax on the tips of ur nails. So when u go to bite u get that nasty ****..lol If u really want to stop than u can. OHH and putting a clear nail polish helps strengthen them too. I still put my hands in my mouth but I dont bite my nails.

I bit my nails for years and years. I stopped like any addict (LOL, sorry it's a strong word, but let's face it, it's hard to stop biting nails!) would: I made the decision to, and every time I wanted to bite my nails, I thought, "Mind over matter. I'm just NOT going to do it." Soon enough, I wasn't doing it. Just don't do it. Remember, a bad habit takes a while to be made and will take a while to be un-made.

Get fake nails- acrylics- at a spa or nail place. For aprox 30 $ a month you will have sweet nails-any color any length, no hastles, beautiful. You cannot bite these suckers off. They do not chip, crack, fade. Trust me it's incredible. You have to go every 2 to 5 weeks to get them "filled" so that is the only down side of it. Trust me, it will work. After a few months you can stop and grow your own nails back and see if your habbit is cured.

I have had the same problem with bitting my nails and have successfully quite before. I no how hard it is. What i did was go to my local drug store (cvs, wallgreens, etc.) and got this nail bitting polish. What you do is put it on your nails and whenever you go to bit them you get this bad taste in your mouth and you stop bitting them right away! You have to reply it like once or twice a week and its clear so no one knows you have it on! The best part is it only costs like $2!

I used to bite my nails all the time. I quit. I did it by learning to do really pretty manicures (and pedicures) and I kept my nails pretty and polished. I liked the look, so I learned to quit biting them. They are now nice and long and pretty. And I do a fresh manicure each week.

It is all a matter of willpower dear.
Just make a decision not to bite your nails and follow it.
Otherwise you may always keep your nails cut very short
so as nothing remains on the top for biting.
Good luck.

Negative imagery- imagine them being teeming with bacteria (which they are) or something worse each time you
start to bite your nails. OR if they are not already bitten off to the quick, get a manicure and maybe you won't want to bite the pretty polish off.

The only time I was successful in not biting was after my wisdom teth were removed. My jaw was so sore that it hurt to do anything mouth-related. My nails grew out, but then i started up again.

Keep them short by cutting them. At first you can put Tabasco on them so you get reminded when they go to your mouth.
Put up a picture of someone with lovely nails as an inspiration for you.
