i mean and intend no disrepect. i may not agree with you, but you have the right to believe in what you like. i respect you for at least believing in something.

with that said, how do real christians feel about those that use the christian religion as a front, and to go into other sections of Yahoo and attack people that have done nothing wrong to them? these i speak of throw insults, curse, pass judgement, bascially make the rest of you look foolish. Jesus never did that, right? why do some of you feel that it's ok to do that?

i was under the impression that Jesus spoke of love and unity. that we are all one, and should treat each other as so. he never had an unkind thing to say, but encouraged people to see past their differences and find the common bond, God. or, did i just get it all wrong?

again, I hope i have not offended anyone. i was simply curious about what is generally acceptable for christian behavior.

thanks to all of you.

sorry, one last thing.

do you that think this behavior in christians is wrong, feel that you as a whole have a responsibility to speak out against this, and encourage others not to do this?

i think that's it.

thanks again. i hope each and everyone one of you have a nice weekend.

As a Christian I strive to be like Christ everyday. That being said, there are times that I sin because unlike Christ, I am not perfect. I do believe that it is wrong for people to act as you have said and unfortunately there are those that are claiming to be Christians and are not and make the rest of us look bad. But in the end is what matters most. How we choose to live your lives will be judged in the end and if we're lucky and we have done right by Christ, we will be right there by his side forever.

well you have to understand that people get angry and they lose all sense of reality. I am not going to sit here and tell you how bad I think it is because I have done it before. It is not acceptable behavior. Sometimes people think it is necessary to separate church life from everyday life, which shouldnt be the case. But it happens anyway. And I can understand why several Christians get on here and curse out Atheists and critics of out religion, but if you think about it, most of those Atheists have never read the Bible or even listened to a single lesson on the teachings of Jesus Christ and they talk to us like our religion is disproven all because of science, and they tell us things about our religion that arent true like "jesus was gay....etc."
That really burns us up because they will sit there and bash our religion when they know nothing about it. And it really angers people. And your question was in no way offensive, btw.

Okay, I can only hear the "they're not true Christians" argument so many time before it makes me vomit. You want the truth? Christianity is not the most peaceful, kindest, tolerant, or even ethical religion. The worst behavior that you see is all justifiable by the bible. It has been used to justify every sort of behavior imaginable in the past few thousand years. The holocaust, slavery, the crusades; the list is disgustingly long. They couldn't do it if somewhere in that book of love and peace there were passages that condone the vilest acts imaginable. There is support for all that behavior in the bible. This should call more than a few things about the validity of the bible and the peacefulness of christianity into question.

It makes me sad when people use Christianity to attack and disrespect other people. Your quick summary of the message of Jesus is quite correct and you can't blame him if people miss the point.

Yes, I think this behavior is wrong and YES, I believe Jesus commanded us to speak out against people that choose to use his name to pass judgment on others (or do anything else in his name that isn't consistent with his teachings). I wish is wasn't so that such people made Christians look "foolish" because I don't believe that being a Christian is foolish...but that's why Jesus commanded us to judge other Christians by their words and actions. As for me, the only thing I can do is to pray that those people will see the error of their ways and realize that if they are preaching a message of hate, that they aren't preaching the message that Jesus commanded them to preach.

Being Christian is not about being 'good' or 'perfect' so Christians make many mistakes and sadly there are those who use their religiosity as an excuse to be moralistic towards others. The point being none of us Christians is God and ONLY God can love completley.Being Christian is a life long journey and conversion is a lifetime process only when we reach the end will we know if we have loved in the way that Christ loved. The chances are none of us will have been able to do that, because each of us has been given free will and the ability to accept or deny God in our lives. Thanks fully God does have pure love for each of us even the most severe sinner and because of this forgivness is the greatest gift of love we can have for one another.Enjoy your weekend.

We can only hope that the Muslims on this board do the same thing I do . . .

Rather than "air dirty laundry" and get into a public argument with a brother who may misunderstand, or who misrepresents the Love of Christ, I'll try to send an e-mail rather than publicly embarrass him.

Hopefully, that's what the Muslims do -- they must be sending private e-mails, because seldom do we see them criticize each other when one attacks Christians or Jews.

Same on the world stage -- when a well known Christian says crazy things, very few other Christians will publicly attack him, but you know his phone rings off the hook, because he often say something different a few days later.

So we have to hope Muslims are privately critical of each other, because we don't seem to see much public criticism, do we?

As Osborne says, it is awful, and there are some who come undercover, so to speak, to start trouble, they may not even be Christian, they just like to start stuff..... now, having said all that: a Christian is known by their fruits, which means, we should all be slow to anger, long suffering, gentle, loving, etc....... but, I do admit, even I get frustrated at some of the come backs I and others get..... I have at times, called out, fellow saints on here for their words..... I am older than most on here, not that is makes much difference, but in Bible terms it does....... and NO offense taken....... I appreciate the honesty and respect in which this was ask....... God bless

The simple truth is, the ones that do not show the fruits of the Spirit, being, love, patience, understanding, and such, are not christians at all, they are only professing to be christians.

You will know the true christians, by their unconditional love, that only comes from God, they will reflect Jesus.

You're right, there are plenty of Christians who don't carry themselves in a Godly way, which is wrong. I have no idea why Christians carry themselves this way, and it does bother me.

Jesus spoke to salvation, right and wrong, the perfect love of God and how we can approach Him, which is through Jesus.

Unity? Do you mean for believers? I don't know - I think Jesus desires that we follow Him. If there are believers that are apostate, reprobate or whatever, then no, we need to separate ourselves. He does want unity for fellow followers / believers.

God bless, and have a great weekend.

Those people are just giving others a reason to attack Christians and their belief. Your third paragraph is right. That is how Christians should act. We are all human and make mistakes, however, we shouldn't act like paragraph 2 - if we do we will have some explaining to do some day!
