How do I get the fleas off?

Take the flea collars off, they're no good.

DON'T keep putting more and more treatments on your pets, each treatment is a pesticide and you're going to be damaging their kidneys and liver with overdoses like that.

Even Advantage needs two days to work fully. But before doing anything more, call up a vet and talk to them by phone explaining what you've already put on them and see if it's safe to do anything else at this point--you could be making matters worse by doing more.

Get your vaccuum out and vaccuume the furniture and rug, wood floors, everything. Then immediately take the bag out and dump it completely in the garbage outside (or the fleas will come back out and stay in the apartment). If you have a dehumidifier, plug that in, the flea eggs need humidity to hatch, if the air is too dry for them then at least you kill the eggs.

Use a flea comb on your cats, and crush the fleas you get off on it, or push the fleas into a glob of vasoline to smother.

It's a process--this is high summer which is the worst time for fleas.

Add 1/4 teaspoon of brewers yeast to the cats food, and to yours, as this will help make all of you bad tasting to the fleas. That's a pretty good preventative.

But consult with a vet BEFORE doing anything more to your cats that would involve chemicals.

First you have to give the medicine a chance to work before freaking out that you still have fleas. Most of the time people don't leave the shampoo on long enough to kill every flea that's why it's a good idea to pull them off and check the cat while you're still bathing her (difficult I know I've done it). If you've put medicine on then give it 24 hours to do it's job. In the meantime use a flea comb to comb out dead fleas and catch any survivors.

If you have a bag vacuum, place a flea collar inside the bag to kill any fleas and eggs that are vacuumed up. Wash their beds and you will probably want to fog your house to be on the safe side. If the fleas are in your carpet then the cats will just get reinfested again.

I have found that only the foggers work when it comes to ridding yourself of fleas.

Good luck

Flea shampoo will might kill the fleas but it usually only stuns them. Flea collars only kill the fleas on the neck. In other words these are worthless. You need to buy a tube of Advantage from the vet, approx $12.00 or less. If your house is not infested with fleas this should work. If it is, you will have to buy flea foggers. Follow directions and your flea problem will be over. Don't use over the counter flea medicine on your cat as they have been known to cause deadly reactions

Take the flea collars off...they are useless and can poison your cats. What type of flea medicine did you use? If you bought some cheap brand of topical like Hartz or Bio Spot..these are also useless. You need Advantage or Frontline. They may take a day or two to spread to kill the fleas. Also you need to kill flea eggs in bedding, carpeting etc. You can flea bomb the house of vacuum with some flea powder inside the vacuum and then immediately throw out the bag outdoors..the fleas can jump out of the vacuum bag if left to sit , and eggs can still hatch inside the vacuum bag.

Because you're house needs to be extermintated of the fleas also.

Fleas spend very little time on the host. Then spend a lot of time in your carpeting, bedding, upholstery. Get rid of them in your house and you have a better chance of keeping them off your pet.
