Believe it or not, I had never been told this nor thought about it until I was in a pub quiz a few years back. The rest of the pub knew I was a GP and expected me to get this right, I didn't!
It is only when you think about the answer that you appreciate it is correct, the answer is dental caries. ( tooth decay.)

The most common cause of missed work is the common cold. The second most common reason for missed work is back pain. Back pain can easily be treated with Chiropractic care. The common cold can not be treated at all. Therefore the easiest and most economical way employers could reduce missed work days would be to pay for chiropractic care for their workers.

Negativity is not a disease found in any physician's desk reference but is something everyone has.
How many times in one day do you hear any one person complain about something, whether small or large? No matter how positive a person's outlook, the human instinct is to have at least 3 negative thoughts in one day.
Now I would say... that is definitely a disease.
If you break down the word -- "Dis" - "Ease" it means a body that is not at ease. The word could have many more meanings than what is typically interpreted with just a physical ailment.
