If so, what kind was it. No dog I've ever had really likes it at all. They only eat it out of necessity and that makes me wish there was something better.

P.S. I don't even think about the cheap non-name brands.

OK, you want to know what kind of dog likes dry food? I have a Beagle that is a real chow hound. He likes anything that resembles food. His main food is Pedigree Weight Control because he will get fat in a heartbeat. He gets baby carrots as treats and loves them.

My dogs love the Iams brand (in the red bag). If your dog isn't eating his food, it could also be that the food is too hard. Try running some warm water over the food, then draining it to soften it up. Also, try mixing a little bit of canned food into the dry to spice up the flavor for your pet.

Actually yes.
I feed quality brands, usually lamb and rice.
I keep small amounts in air tight container for daily feedings.
The rest is stored in freezer.

I do NOT free feed. Twice a day for 15 minutes, my dogs have food access. They eat regularly and are healthy and happy. Not overweight either.
They get treats on a VERY limited basis

O.K. I shall bite and stick my toe into the great brand debate.

My dogs LOVE their dry food, prefer it OVER wet. They eat Benniful Healthy Radiance. HAH! I hear you out there now ("She feeds her dogs horrible food!" "That stuff is all CORN!") as true as that may be ... the Golden Retriever WONT EAT the Canidae or the other "good foods". and I am not talking about changing food snubbing, he actually lost some 20lbs in the attempt to feed him the "good" foods. We were faced with the choice, let him starve himself to death OR let him eat the "bad" food. Bad food it was. Part of the reason we were trying the "good" foods was that the elderly cockapoo had cancer and a couple of other infections and problems. the "good" food was supposed to help her. when she was eating the "good" food her skin turned black and all her hair fell out. 2 months on the "EVIL, cheap, mostly corn" Benniful Healthy Radiance her skin problems started clearing up (they are all gone now) and all of her hair grew back.

I am not saying that Canidae is bad and Benniful is the best ever. I am saying that Benniful is the best for MY dogs. Maybe Canidae (or some other brand ... it is just that Canidae and Eagle Pack seem to be the most popular here) is best for your dog(s) but DON'T assume that it is just about being cheap!

i have had plenty of dogs that liked dry dog food. the dog food we got was like dog chow and sometimes cheap stuff and he liked it. also if you add water to it it dogs tend to like it better and adding water helps them not chock on dust that can be collected in a dogs trouts from dry food alone. but yeah my dogs liked dry dog food and enjoyed it my friends dogs love there dry food and it is Purina pet chow.

Hmm. Our last dog loved any food anytime. Purina is healthier than Gravy Train or Kibbles and Bits. So, maybe you'd consider that. But yes, the Purina dry food he ate like he was starving for weeks on end!

I have fed dry food to all my dogs all my life. You have to start them on it when they are pups though.. One thing I do is add 1 raw egg and about 1 1/2 teaspoons of olive oil to it and a little hot water and stir. The egg and oil adds sheen to their coat and helps to prevent dry skin. I think it adds to the tast also. Also during those hot days add a little salt.

I feed my dog Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance dry dog food. He doesn't eat it with as much excitement as he did when we first started him on it, but he seems to like it and always eats everything in his bowl when he does eat it.
