They are immigrants. They don't have rights. How are they able to protest? I'm not against them coming here, they are just going to have to put up with the 10 year wait list to become a citizen. If they don't like that, they can fix their own country. There's enough of them here to make a reform in their own country, but they would rather come here and take advantage of the American way.

Or better yet, we could just have GWB go and take over another country and fix it and put a lot of OUR money into THEIR government.

The answers are wrong quoting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, because the Bill of Rights was written for "We, the People of the United States of America..." not for "We, the People of the United States of America, AND for the People invading from Mexico..."

(Before I put my answer, we should make sure we're all on the same page. You wrote "why are immigrants...." It's the ILLEGAL ones that most people have issues with. Everyone--even the American Indians--were immigrants, since human life started somewhere in Mesopotamia.)
They have a right to protest because the Bill of Rights does not specify "for citizens" in it.
It says:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
However, I don't know why the police don't stop by and wrangle the whole group of protesters...and check for legality of their status in the US. Seems like a "fish in a barrel" type scenario to me!

If the people in your question are LEGAL immigrants and are here legally, then they do have a voice. If they came here throught the proper channels and are documented, they are most welcome. If you are talking about ILLEGAL immigrants, you are correct. I don't understand why anyone would listen to them either, as they don't have any rights. Although to listen to them you would think they do. They believe that they should have the same rights as legal U.S. citizens. When they are protesting why are the Immigration officials not rounding people up to check status and send them back where they came from? It is a good question.

Umm. I'm not sure where you got the idea that immigrants (even undocumented or, for conservatives "illegal" ones) don't have rights. Are you suggesting that the U.S. officially adopt the formation of a separate society within our borders that has absolutely no rights, civil or human or protections under the Constitution? Sounds to me like a return to slavery. Also I think you're indulging in the twin evils of our times: oversimplification and emotionalism. Some undocumented immigrants are no doubt here to scam the system just as some regular, legal, native born U.S. citizens of each economic class do. I choose to believe that a vast majority of all groups, including undocumented immigrants, are hard working and conscientious. Since that particular group is perforce extremely low profile, neither of us can know for sure who they are or how they conduct their lives.

Illegals should not be able to protest, march in our streets wave flag from other country, demanding right. they have no right to be here, I.C.E should be doing there job and start deporting every one with out papers. There is going to be a march on the white house on Sep. 12,2007 . And you can bet not one is going to be deported. And there Will be thousands of illegals there, perfect time to bus them up and return them to there country.

This is AMERICA, they can do it. It's the land of the free. And all the rallies and marches you heard about, I'm pretty sure almost all were not created by immigrants but by their supporters, and everyone marched.

I think that when they have these protests, ICE should be there to round them up. I get so tired of them DEMANDING things they have no right to. THEY SHOULDN'T BE HERE! They should go home and fix their country.

They know we are not enforcing our immigration laws.
The invaders are allowed to play fast and loose with the 1st and 14th amendments.
What makes you think we haven't given their governments millions of dollars already?
